RIP Eyedea, but as it is the Wild are big shots after Tuesday's 6-1 6-2 victory over Vancouver. Feeling good after a bag skate earlier in the week, tonight's game against Edmonton begins a two game, two day road trek in the Great White North and is the second contest against the Oilers in a week. Minnesota is hoping that their newfound attitude is not an one game deal and are looking to make a statement. Edmonton, 4-2 losers to Minnesota last Thursday, are coming off a 5-3 loss to province rival Calgary but have been off since Saturday. Eager to prove themselves, the young Oilers have plenty to prove at home after not playing to their potential at the X. This has the makings to be an interesting game, so until then....
Starring Lineups:
Minnesota:
Timeless, Machiavellian and a proponent of greed, the Wild will be playing a role of taking anything that they can. And then some. Minnesota is looking to take the Oilers to cleaners, but just remember, lunch is for wimps (sorry Latendresse).
Look, greed is good Niklas Backstrom...
Edmonton
Young, ambitious and a little naive, the Oilers are looking to win by any means necessary. While Edmonton does not have all the knowledge and skill, they do have a connection at the airport and are very persistent. In fact, if you look in the dictionary there would be a picture of Taylor Hall under the word.
This picture's also under the phrase "next week."
Either way, they are looking to take down Gordon Gekko Minnesota even if it costs them in the end. And it does. Seriously, have you seen Daryl Hannah lately?
If you've seen the movie, this makes sense. If not, there's probably symbolism somewhere like maybe someone's in the doghouse.

Reason: Vancouver score - thanks Dee Oh Cee!
We are at 2-2-1, which is an okay record. We need to string some wins together, and we all know we have the talent to do it. I'm going to say Wild win 3-1.
Just a tiny error but we're coming off a 6-2 win not a 6-1 win...just pointing it out
Huh. Could have fooled me. I was more so watching the fallout all over message boards everywhere than watching the rest of the game...
Like others have said, this is probably setting up to be a close game. I do hope the team can find a way to net some even strength goals in addition to keeping the special teams play rolling.
Any word on if the players are getting over the Flu going around? Is Gillies still up with the team right now?

Doesn't get any better than this. I wish that the games were on at different times though. I will be madly cycling through the Giants and Wild tonight. Need another two win night. C'mon boys!
Do we know for sure what game between Edmonton and Vancouver Theodore is going to start yet?
We'll probably know soon. What time zone is Edmonton in? 1 hour behind or two? Russo speculated that Backs would go again today, with Theodore getting the start tomorrow, I guess we'll see.

Giants 6:30PM CST
Wild 8:30PM CST
You can still catch most of both games. That's my plan, at least. See the Giants through, then switch over to hockey.
Well 6:57 CDT is first pitch so we'll get a good hour and a half and something good to turn to during stoppages/intermisions or if the game goes south for the Wild. Pitching matchup will once again be epic.
Not sure if i like this. When was the last time Backstrom was around for the 2nd period when they play @edmonton.
Apparently Theodore is just as bad or worse than Backstrom there. I don't really buy into a lot prior games all that much anyway but I am sort of interested in seeing what they have with Theodore.
