This guys gonna be a player in the NHL for sure, he plays a pro game. Could see him jumping up to the top 10 on draft day, LOTS of scouts see him play because of all the 'Hawks draftees.

I want the Wild to pick him at 10 if he's there, he just seems to fit what we need a scoring forward who plays defense, wouldn't be surprised if he's on the roster playing along granlund or Koivu. i love his commitment to defense, which is why i think he'd be great on our roster.

Back early in the season I mentioned him on the Isles forum Draft Discussion thread,. I said he reminds me of Milan Hejduk and I still feel that way. He knows how to be invisible on the ice in a good way, and sneak past people into open areas. When you have a smooth shooting motion and one-timer like he does, it is easy to imagine he can score 30 goals if he can continue his sneakiness.

I have followed the winter hawks off and on, my mother is from portland and we live out east. Im a die hard Islanders fan and from what I have seen i would like to see him as an Islander, what is his chemistry like with Nino? whats his speed like?

I dont even think Nino and Sven play together. I could only imagine what Sven would do on a top line. Tough spot for the Isles. If they trade down and get him pending on what they get I wouldnt mind. Sven is on the short side though. Thats probably what scares me the most. His hockey IQ is awesome. It would be cool to have 3 Swiss players on the team.

I can't believe this guy is according to scouting sources a mid 1st round pick, he is totally easily top 10 for me, maybe even top 5, I bet NHL scouts have him higher than the sources.

yep, these playoff's probably has the scouts convinced. If he was 6 foot... he might be a top 5 pick. I'd bet if he isn't a top 10 pick it's because he's 5'10 and that would be the only reason.

Well Ryan Murphy is a 5'10 D man and he's supposed to go high, so I don't see size as being too much of a factor, it's less of a factor for forwards than D men.

True, but Murphy has a higher ceiling if he can reach his potential. I don't think Bärtschi gets picked in the top 10. Too many high quality forwards with size and lesser question marks in front of him.
But I could see the Avs picking him 11th.

There's a new article on Sven Bärtschi at lighthousehockey.com [1].
Maybe the Islanders could once organise a meeting together with the Canadians and the Ducks to find an answer to the posed question "Can an NHL team have too much Swiss?".
However, I don't expect Bärtschi will get drafted by one of those teams, if no one is moving up or down, as he will in my opinion get drafted after 5, but before 17.

If the Avs take Larsson at 2, I hope they take a strong look at Bartschi at 11.

Instead of starting a new thread, I'll ask here. Who will be better offensively Bartschi or Puempel?

Puempel. But I like Bartschi more because he plays more of a complete game and is very physical while still being good offensively.

Thanks. I hope the Avs are looking at both of them at 11.

Bartschi really reminds me of Patrick Sharp with his great all-around game with an offensive kick. I think he can be a great 50-60 pt player in the NHL who is a rock in all corners of the rink.

Awesome skill set here, with the compete and work to match, skating doesn't have a top end gear, but it's fine, defense is coming along nicely, could be a top line player if everything reaches it's potential, which there is no reason for me not to think so.

Very happy with this, the Flames took the BPA. That's seriously all us Flames fans ask for.

Would've taken McNeill if I were the Flames, but Bartschi wasn't a reach or anything.

It may have been a reach to take McNeill there if Bob Mac's #19 rating is anything to go by, he wen't 18th of course.

One dude's rank isn't the be all and end all.

The Flames need desperate help down the middle more than any other spot in their franchise. McNeill would've added size and skill.
