1/20 on the PP to start the season......

Still a lot of bright spots in the beginning of the season.

Still optimistic! 5on5 is a lot better. PP is really bad though lol....

If this were against any other team, I'd be rather upset right now.

The Devils have our number. To paraphrase Pedro Martinez, the Devils are our daddy.

Fun fact: If Martin Brodeur played as well against every other team in his career as he does us, he'd have 166 shutouts.

Watching NJ struggle due to their cap issues and aging players in the next few years will bring me great happiness. Well worth the 8 seasonal points we won't be getting against them.

This is where I have serious problems with the coaching staff, as it is their job to break down video, and offer alternative solutions on how to get someone other than Josh Gorges to score with the man advantage.
Yup.. They're so bad they are 31st in the 30 team NHL on the PP.. We better pray Markov can get this PP going when he returns...

I'm definitely not a fan of Pyatt on the second line, but it's pretty funny that he looked 100 times better than his $7.5M center. Pyatt made a few great passes that led to a few of our only scoring chances. I think he played really well. He still shouldn't be on the second line though.

I'd almost consider trying;

Pouliot - Eller - Gionta

Gomez has been so terrible that he deserves to be on line #3. Nothing more at this point.

Pyatt - Gomez - Boyd
Moen - Halpern - Lapierre

I hate the Devils what a lame franchise I just wish they fold and take with them their 3 freaking fans. I wish Brodeur have a terrible season with less than 20 wins and retire the old fatso classless cocky loser.

Gomez, the 7.3M$ third line center.

I know everyone is upset at Gomez but he has always been a slow starter. He has always been a guy that started playing really well in the middle of November.

Is his current level of play acceptable? No.
But I'm confident he'll be back to his form soon enough.

you'd better duck for cover... mentioning Gomez's 7.5M$ price tag is considered sacrilege to some around these parts.

I wonder if Gauthier is plotting somewhere in the back of his mind to find a way to unload Gainey's blunder onto some other GM in the near future.

I sure hope so, because I really don't want to watch another 4 years of the team having to rotate 4th line players in the top 6 because we can't afford to actually bring in a reasonable solution.

in the meantime, i too find it odd that Martin would rather tinker with players who aren't cut out for a top 6 role, instead of giving one of Eller or Pouliot a real chance at working things out in that spot.

It's not sacrilege. It's ********.

Everybody knows he's overpaid. To say he's a 3rd line center, however, is ******** and just proves how someone doesn't know his hockey.

He, Gionta and Cammalleri have been owned by Brodeur. Even your hero Koivu and the ex-(NOTOVERPAIDZOMGZZ!)team got owned by this guy.

Everyone relax, once Gionta gets rolling I am sure he will drag gomez along with him. If Gionta can get gomez 40 or so ghost assists I am sure he will be a god around these parts again.

right now he probably feels it's a necessity, to try to get Gomez going. 2 points in 6 games to start the season, and it's not like he's playing great but getting unlucky.

Martin needs to find a way to get him going, and a way to get the pp going.

Right now gomez is about 5million overpaid, I bet we could get a pretty decent #2 dman for that. Even last year gomez was barely a 2nd line centre he only had wingers who were on fire. Now that his wingers arent finishing everything he looks like garbage because he doesn't elevate the play of anyone.

yes, especially when Gomez, or our PP is on the ice. Seriously, this season has no sizzle at all as of yet, just nothing.

I found the game super boring, like all Devils games, it's all shut down b.s.

The Habs were just rusty, not having played in almost a week. That's too long.

I don't get much enjoyment out of our defense these days other than PK.

Hamrlik and Spacek make me feel like it's an old timer league game.

I am privileged enough to catch Devils games, other then the ones that are against the Habs, and I can safely say that they are not even close to as boring a team, as they appear to be against the Habs.

I am but a casual interested Devils fan reading the outside reaction to this game.

All of it is more of the same, however I was disappointed by the "1996" talk. I mean, we introduced the trap and virtually killed the league two years before that, right?

Brodeur shutting out Montreal? I can't believe I missed a game of such rarity.

Calling players out and going on bashing mode 6 games into a 82 games.

There's also a reason why Gomez has been a part of 2 Stanley Cup Champions, and Koivu has only got a top-6 spot on mediocre teams.

As for getting owned by Brodeur, Gomez, Cammalleri and Gionta, yes, they've been owned by Brodeur. Gionta scores on that wrap-around and Cammalleri rips it in when he shot from the slot, we've got a 3-2 games and Gomez has two assists. But of course, around here, things can't look "gray". It's either all black or all white.

You wanna blame Gainey, Gauthier, Gomez, and the guys Gainey hired in 2009? You hate the look of that

Gomez's play is NOT that bad. Honestly. If you stopped caring about salaries, you might have seen it, but halas, that's not the case.

In the third period, the game wasn't out of hand before the 3rd goal. Brodeur came up big and literally stoned Gionta and Cammalleri, on plays set up by Gomez. That's where the game was played. Gionta and Cammalleri don't get robbed, this is a 2-2 game.

Mod edit: stop poster bashing & baiting.
