Gionta and Cammelleri

Gionta and Cammelleri, have brought an element to this team I think we haven't had in years, winning, and working ethic. We're seeing AK hanging out with Gio and improving drastically, As well as the never let die attitude. I think this is crucial as our team is having younger players constantly joining it, a strong work ethic and a desire to win will make our younger players better and make this team better over the next few years then even we expect

Gionta tucks all the players in bed and reads them a story while caressing their foreheads

Cammy is the one that gently wakes them up in the morning with gentle rubbing and whispers and of course a nice warm cup of coffee

The team now is one giant ball of love and positivity.

I am/was a big Koivu supporter and I think he was a good captain but we don't have access to the room so no one knows for sure. I have noticed a definite change in this team the last 2 years with respect to the players compete level across the board and team spirit in general. There seems to be a much better vibe with the rookies and vets as they do not seem so distant as they have appeared to be in the past. Guys like Gio, Cammy, and Gomez are playing a big part in this, I like it.

One thing that I really like about this team is that they never fold under pressure or under heavy physical play. They don't really give a ****. They just keep on pestering the other team, we've really become one of the more annoying teams to play against.

Well to be fair to Koivu, this is essentially an entirely different team than the one he was on. More than half that dressing room is gone, so of course there would be a change.

No doubt about that. My point is that there seems to be more of a family atmosphere than ever before, again nothing against Koivu just a completely different vibe around the team.

I'll bump this thread when the team has a 4 game losing streak. Fans are so bipolar here.

Koivu was known for having his cliques, so I think it had everything to do with him. But I can admit, I never liked Koivu and I'm glad he's gone. I was a Kovalev fan but I'm equally glad he's gone as well.

I think it's very unfair to say that Koivu had "his" cliques. The locker room was definitely divided but I don't think it was Koivu's idea to run around in cliques, separating the team into distinct entities. It was moreso the result of having a team with multiple strong egos and players aspiring to leadership roles.

The difference since last year is that most of the big egos were let go and the new players all came at the same time and bought into the team concept, which wasn't the case before.

It's really unfair to blame the cliques on Koivu. However, it's very refreshing to see a tight-knit team where everybody seems to get along fine with each other.

To give a shout out to pleks, he has 10 hits in 5 games. That's a pace of 164 hits in a season, which is great.

You know we've seen a new AK so far, and ppl say its his contract, but maybe it just took him a year to finally buy into the new philosophy.

I personally believe it was distractions. The kid is young and just needs to focus on one thing, his game, that's it that's all.

Babysitting Sergei and media circuses could not have helped especially with the injuries he's had so far in his career.

A healthy season on his line with Markov in the line up, we should see the best of him we've seen thus far. Forth year pro, he knows he has something to prove and he's doing his best to prove the hype surrounding him was merited all along.

Saku Koivu also had a tremendous will to win. Unfortunately, he was getting older and the habs were looking for a shake-up.

The fact that akost has had a good start means that akost took it upon himself to work harder and get back to his form from 2008.

I'm not knocking Gio and Cammy, I'm just saying that the previous captain didnt lack in the will department. What I do think is different is that our current captain has alot of support in this category. Gill, Gorges, Cammy, and Markov all could have been captain too. Leadership is definitely a strength on this squad.

I dont think Cammalleri brings more than his goals to be honest , yes he's a good scorer but except that I dont see what's so special about him.I'll take a prime Koivu and a 07-08 Kovalev before him without thinking too much about it.I like Gionta , but unfortunately I think we'll see lots of criticism toward him in the next couple of years regarding his production.

Martin was saying that akost's fitness level wasn't where it needed to be last season at camp. He finally got going in the middle of the season but then he got injured and he could never find his form again.

With regards to this he has taken subban under his wing, (source the subban youtube video on mainpage right now) Where subban says Cammy taught him about eating right, I'm sorry also Kovalev> Cammy? did you see the playoffs last year?

No way. That's all we need from him is to score. Don't care if he doesn't hit or block shots, if he can be the playoffs leading goal scorer..I'll take it! The guy is clutch and is the purest goal scorer we've had here since Richer.

I also have to disagree with this. Sure, he and Rivet were buddies, and the two of them were vocal in tandem when others would slack off or act like idiots (Ribeiro, Theo, Dags, Lats, even Kovy, etc.), but that hardly constitutes a "clique." More like two lone voices of leadership in a sea of prima donna flakes.

I think what we're seeing is a change in temperament among the leadership. Koivu and Rivet tended to be serious guys, while Cammalleri and Gomez, even Gio and Gorges and now PK, always seem to have a joke on their lips. They've got the right attitude to play on the Habs. Take yourself too seriously and you'll get eaten alive -- now more than ever in the age of the Internet, when everyone has a public opinion about you.

Koivu is the worst captain in Habs history. We all know that he was jealous of Ribeiro and he always had difficulty in gather the players to form a team.

I can't figure out if this is serious or trolling.
