Sad to know that he had such a bright future and ended up dying in a freak accident if we had Cherry right now we would be in pretty good shape and a playoff team no doubt.

RIP, Alexei you will never be forgotten <3

Eh, stop reminding me. R.I.P.

I was at such a high when we drafted him, then it all shattered.

Even though the kid never had the chance to prove anything, I still couldn't believe when I heard he died because of the hype and potential around the kid. Just the Rangers luck, right?

Rangers can always recover from this. He can't.

Puts things in perspective doesn't it.

I nearly threw up. It was a terrible day for sure. I asked a guest to leave because he was a bit insensitive.

2 years to the day, 11 days ago. Was there even a thread about it that day?

I remember I was at the Blarney on 33rd (?) before a Rangers-Devils game when another fan told me of his passing... I was shocked and I think my jaw actually hit the ground. My friend, who is a Rangers fan but doesn't follow prospects that closely, didn't know much about him until I explained. Unbelievable.... Drank a pint for him at that point and I'll drink another one when the game starts.

RIP Chere, wish we could've gotten to know you better.

I reall wish you hadn't created this thread. Everytime I get reminded of this it always breaks my heart again.

I was coming home from work I heard that one of the Rangers prospects had passed. The first thing I instantly thought of was please don't let it be Cherepanov. I heard the news and it killed me inside.

Grachev - Anisimov - Cherepanov

That line would have been fun to watch.

R.I.P Chere, I really wish I would have had a chance to watch you play.

I'm really curious to know.
If your child had a genetic heart defect that strenuous activity could cause death.
Would you pump him up with drugs to conceal it and send him out to play?
If AC was doing this knowingly, he got what he deserved.
If it was being done to him under any other circumstance, it's criminal.

His hockey ability is irrelevant. He should have never ever been playing.

Its a little harsh to say foolhardiness in a young kid is deserving of death.

What a real ******* thing to say. No one deserves to die, especially not a 19 year old kid.

If he was fully informed and aware that his condition could kill him. What would you call it?

It just seems very obvious that it was known to him and the coaching staff.
