What is Quentin's contract? They can't do that without getting rid of Ibanez.

Probably. His contract is up, he's arbitration-eligible until 2013. He won't get too much since his average was low last year, but apparently the White Sox want no part of trading him.

Nah, it just makes sure we get draft picks when he signs elsewhere.

We declined arbitration on Durbin

Tigers will decline to offer arb to Ordonez, a type A free agent. Makes him a little more attractive, though I still don't expect him to leave Detroit.

If he does leave Detroit, I would not mind the Phillies taking a look if eh doesn't cost that much. I didn't want him when we had to give up picks, but now it looks a bit better, of course depending on price.

That scenario would let us go after Downs and still probably have a pick in the first round because of Werth.

Yeah.

It's not entirely inconceivable though...if his body responds well he could do it.

Well I guess he really wanted to make some money.

Nats will win 30 games but Werth will hit 25HRs off of our pitchers this season.

7 years 126million holy ****

Good for him, he cashed in. I wouldn't put it past the Nationals either to have some decent teams down the road either. Won't hit many homers in that park though.

Anyone who calls him a traitor is a ****ing moron. Man got paid. He wasn't going to get this money anywhere else and he already got a ring. Phillies fans are so ungrateful, it makes me sad.

Him and Mcnabb can now be friends with their enormous contracts. They can buy each other some beers and sit in front of a TV and watch their former teams play in the playoffs every year.

This is why people where the Eagles or Flyers are their favorite teams will always have better fan bases. Generally they understand the game off the field/ice better as well.

It's been going on most of the year, even before he was out the door. Werth was gone as soon as the Phillies traded for Halladay, and deep down so did everyone else in the clubhouse and front office.

He's not a traitor but its surprising that he would go to such a crappy team. I would have thought he could get 5-6 years and around 100 million from a good team like the Sox or Yankees. Not saying wouldn't go for the money too but It does appear that he's not that interested in winning
