No bonehead contracts for 2 years,
Good marquee free agent signings (Gaby/Frolov)
Homegrown talent coming up the pipes,
Not trying to buy the Stanley Cup.

Oh Sather, what has come over you!

This is the time for the young guys.

Very gratifying to see them stepping it up and earning their status as the future of the franchise .

The next level is putting the game away earlier.

First time in a long time we've not only had good youth come along, but also the good coaching(post lockout) that should go hand in hand with building from within.

on the flip side, it is also nice seeing the Devils playing so bad after they sign a big ticket free agent to a crazy contract and bring back a series of bad contracts and over-the-hill ex Devils in a bad attempt to relive their past.

Ever think that JD just wanted to watch the Rangers play in person to scout a little? St. Louis is playing in NY 2 weeks from yesterday

Agreed dubi has shown he's taken a HUGE step forward from last season u can tell he's a lot more confident in his play and he's using his skills all over the ice, Callahan also and the fact that dubi and cali have really clicked offensively is going to be something special for years to come. Barring a completly rediculous trade that ships one out. Anisimov has also taken a big step forward playing extremely solid all around hockey. Don't forget the defense staal started off shakey but looking at last night has started to bring it together and girardi is playing great defense. Mdz's coming around and roszivals playing some solid defense. Hopefully stepan keeps progressing, and kreider comes in next year playing good and well be in buisness.

As has been said before, no team has been as big a beneficiary of the salary cap as the Rangers. Post-lockout, Sather and team were forced to re-tool their approach to success and it appears to be paying off.

Win or lose, these Rangers teams are much more enjoyable and likeable from a fan's perspective than the big contract, aging vet teams pre-lockout.

Amen, Brother!
It's been so long since I've seen the Rangers put together 3 straight real 60-minute, quality efforts, I almost forgot what it felt like.

Whenever I watch Dubinsky-Anisimov-Callahan pressure in the offensive zone, I feel like the proud father of children who have just taken their first steps.

The DAC line is the most exciting line since Jagr - Nylander - Straka.

I'm with you here. Aves seems a Ranger at heart to me. He loves the city and said he loves the fans, and how could he not when the "AY-VREE" chants go up? I think we've embraced him more than any other fanbase he's played for.

I hope he finishes his career here.

.

More than anything, here's what has me impressed.

It's not one player that is shining through. It's not like we have intergrated 2 kids into the line-up and they are playing well in a pool of Vets.

The Rangers have Dubinsky, Callahan, Anisimov, Staal, MDZ, Griradi, (now Stepan & Sauer) all playing key roles for the team and playing well in those roles.

That is what is impressing me more than anything.

Woah woah woah woah woah....calm down dammit!!!

Haha I'd maybe say he's piecing together agood team but over his rpevious mistakes. Still wouldn't call him even decent.

The Pack Line (Dubi - Anisimov - Cally)...has been an absolute treat to watch so far this season. Its also a good feeling when they're out on the ice along with Girardi & MDZ. All homegrown players doing their thing for NYR.

And don't forget we have a couple of players coming up that may be the best yet of the group.

Kreider, Werek, McDonagh.

As I keep saying, this is going to be a very very good team soon.

Believe it or not, but right now would be the worst time for Sather to go. It's his guys who are forming the core and it's his scouting staff who are drafting for the near future. I didn't agree with the Tortorella hiring and we sucked last year but who knows, maybe it'll work with this year's roster.

Overall, Sather might just have the franchise pointed the right way for the first time in his tenure and I want to just stay the course for a year or two to see what happens.

Last night when Cally, Dubi and Hank got the three stars I felt the same pride. Three homegrown guys, with nothing but the future to look forward to.

Amen.

No, undrafted ECHL fodder originally. Went from there to the Pack and then to NY but I don't believe he has played for any other pro organization.

if i remember correctly, they saw him when they were scouting someone else to be drafted while he was playing junior and signed him after his junior career was over

They found Girardi while they were watching his teammate on the Guelph Storm, Ryan Callahan.
