How big of an impact will Kuba make in his return?
When he returns, will he really help our struggling D that much? I mean he's always seemed there for me, nothing fancy, not a liability but not a game breaker defensively.

Well, his addition will help ensure that every D-man is playing their proper side in every situation.
It will also result in the promotion of Karlsson to the 2nd pairing and the demotion of Campoli - Carkner into the bottom pairing role they're well-suited for.
I hope he'll make a difference, but we're talking about a guy who skated twice before breaking his leg. His timing and fitness are going to be an issue for a bit. And I don't think Kuba's the guy to right the ship. MAYBE... but I don't think its one guy that's going to solve any of the problems on this team. There's some deep rooted systemic issues with this team's play right now.
I won't be surprised if it takes him 5 games to find his timing. He's going to help a lot.
Hopefully his groin/back hold up a whole 5 games.
I do think if he comes back and is healthy its going to help a lot. My theory on the D is we currently have 2 top 4 d-men playing, and six guys who should be on the bottom pairing.
Everybody was happy to when Murray locked up Kuba, but he in his first like 30 games he was almost a point per game.
Last year everybody wanted him traded.
Pick one.
Well he played good during his contract year, set the bar high. Following season he was injured for 29 games and when he returned, his effectiveness didn't last long, nor did he live up to the level of play that got him the contract. (not surprised)
Now in his 3rd season with the Sens he starts the season with breaking his leg.
It's okay for fans to be bi-polar with this kind of guy.

Sens fans are bi-polar with everything not just Kuba
He will help stabalize things on the point. He should help our PP, and he will eat up some big minutes that guys like Carkner & Campoli aren't capable of.
Our D looks good on paper with him back (55/4, 65/17, 39/14).
That being said, Kuba coming back better not be viewed as an answer to our overall struggles right now. He will help, but it will take alot more then his return to get us on track.
He's probably our #3, which he wouldn't be on most teams showing the lack of depth we have on D. I think he'll make a small impact but definitely should help our breakout out of our zone.
He'll definitely make an impact... He was one of our better defensemen before getting bombarded with injuries last season and this season he felt 100% and ready to go and had the bad luck of breaking his leg in practice.. I think he's gonna come back wanting to show his true colours and be an all-around help in every zone and every aspect of the game being PP PK 5on5. He slots in to make our defensive pairings a lot better then they are putting people into their respective positions instead of having mix matched D-pairings as we continue to lose.
Phillips - Gonchar
Kuba - Karlsson
Campoli - Carkner

trade Lee away.. never wanted him.. and still dont.. and he has been a complete bust. time for a change of scenery trade.
In the big picture it wont help at all. This team needs to be torn apart and started over from foundation forward. Adding Kuba is like sticking in a 512mb ram stick into a P1 500mhz computer and hoping it will make a difference in being able to play the new Call of Duty Black Ops game.

I agree...there's a strong base on the backend and there's hope that Lehner is a solid goalie prospect. I don't think this team is one or two moves away from a cup in the next year or two and so why not try to move some bodies. I doubt it happens and if it does happen it better not be with BM at the helm.
Here's a thread that appeared shortly after Kuba returned from injury last December titled "Kuba is brutal...".
Just a few posts drawn from it:
Quote:
Kuba has pretty much been brutal since returning from his injury except for maybe 5 games. I really don't know what's going on with him as last year, it was his consistency in all aspects of the game (Powerplay, defense, etc) that made him who he was.
This year, he either has a really good game or a really bad game and so far, there have been way too many bad games. Bad turnovers in the defensive zone, inability to keep the puck in the offensive zone, and just what seems like a lackadaisical approach to the game.
I don't know, I find myself to be a fairly patient person with players but I think this is way overdue. Simply put, I expect more out of a veteran player like Kuba.

Gong show out there tonight for him. Horrendous. Please tell me him and Picard aren't going back to their cluster**** ways.

Tell me about it.
He is really leaving Karlsson in some tough situations.
I think we're all hoping he's going to be a steadying presence out there, but he hasn't laced em up in months and is coming off two significant injuries at 33 years of age. I'm not expecting much for his first 10-15 games back.
