jonas640: - Kris Versteeg not on the ice this morning
- John Mitchell has taken Versteeg's place on the 2nd line.
- Caputi called up from Marlies
Anybody got any more information on this? Injury, benched, or just a missed practice? I know Versteeg's been a whipping boy as of late but I don't think anyone is hoping he'll be out of the line up for Mitchell.
I can live with Armstrong out. He hasnt been bad at all, but I think Sjoestrom has been better so far this season. Im just worried about Versteeg. he has obvious talent, and is maybe the best puckhandler on the team save Kaberle, but he just seems to make the guys around him worse.
This is a huge test for Phil, he was clearly uncomfortable playing in Boston last season, even against them in our own rink, he was basically useless. Can't have your best player not show up against a division rival.
Mitchell practiced there, but my bet is he plays on the fourth, Brown goes to the third, and Caputi on the second. Versteeg will likely be a healthy scratch.

They can't afford to sit Versteeg even if they wanted to, their depth in the top six is terrible.
Ohh man hopefully it's just a maintenance day for Versteeg, this team looks totally different with Caputi and Mitchell...
Fan590 is reporting back ailment for Versteeg and missed practice but will be making the trip to Boston.

Yeah you don't put Versteeg as a healthy scratch at all. The only way he's not playing is if he's hurt. The team doesn't have the depth to just pull him from the lineup like that.
I'd be going back with Giguere for this one, still not overly confident with Jonas and this is a big game against a tough opponent. Not to mention Giggy is coming off a very good game last night.
