I think he was charged with impaired, don't quite remember because they can't say his name. They did say alcohol was involved in the crash when it happened. He might have have a plea deal that dropped it to dangerous driving causing death.
Also, times have changed, the times where people got "slaps on the wrist" is over, they look for harsh punishment every day.
Anyways, we won't know for another 2 months, but I'll be shocked if all he gets is community service and a loss of lincense, teenagers get that for much less serious crimes.
if your right about the plea deal then it will be the exact same thing as the girl who killed my sister last summer, im well aware of whats happening and basically its loss of license for 3-5 years, not sure and max community service they can hand out to a minor

For anything related to minors? I don't think so, I've seen minors get 6+ months jail time for robbery chrages which are less serious then vehicular manslaughter related charges. I can't believe that the minimum would be suspended license and community service.
From what little I've seen of him with Kelowna, guy has all the physical tools but makes some bizarre decisions. In Game 3 of the first round, as the Rockets were down 2-0 in the series and trailing by one goal in the 3rd, he was the last guy back with the puck and when the forecheck put pressure on him, instead of making an easy outlet pass, he instead chose to put the puck through his own legs and stickhandle around the forechecker! The fact that he'd try it was baffling to me, the fact that he pulled it off is a testament to his skills. That said with the expected continuing development of Damon Severson, Jesse Lees and Madison Bowey (Who is probably my favourite prospect on the Rockets right now, guy is just 16 years old and plays with so much poise with the puck!), I wouldn't be surprised to see Bell moved this summer, because you don't want 4 of your 6 regular d-men to be offensive defencemen.
Hard to say. There would still be some major stigma with taking a kid with a history like he has.
I would expect him to get passed over again and likely earn a camp invite for an NHL club. He'll play pro eventually IMO, but I doubt he gets drafted.
His game simply hasn't shown the growth to outweigh his past issues and the firestorm that would come with picking a kid like him.
So sad to look back at my original post in this thread. Such a bright prospect before this all happened.
I don't think anyone will pass on Myles Bell due to what he did off the ice(that may sound terrible but stay with me). It was a terrible mistake that he'll live with for the rest of his life and much older NHL players have made similar mistakes and still went on to play long NHL Careers (Ex. Heatley, MacTavish). I think teams might be scared off due to the mental toll this may or may not have taken on such a young kid. If he can't rebound mentally, no team is going to take a risk on him. Last season he was passed simply because it was just under 2 months before the draft and there were so many unknowns. It's been nearly a year, he'll get a chance to talk to some NHL teams this off season, he's had a full WHL season to prove his on ice skill (which I think he truely did on a weak Kelowna squad) and now he's had a full year to get his head around the situation he put himself in. A lot of people say professional athletes have to grow up very quickly and be men in their teens but Myles Bell has had to grow up to another level and now he has to prove he has in fact done that. If he shows he can handle himself mentally, I can't see why he wouldn't be picked, very late, in this years draft.
If he doesn't get drafted, it's not near the end of the road for this kid. He has another year in the WHL to keep growing and I think by then there will be just under 30 teams who will be standing in line to get this kid signed and it will pay off in the long run for whoever gets him. Seems like the type of kid that Dale Tallon would pick up in Florida. Non-traditional hockey market, plays a style that would fit Florida's game, and Dale Tallon knows how to get guys for next to nothing/get guys who are widely unwanted.

I agree, I had Myles Bell ranked around 4th-5th round talent. Every game I have seen with him in the lineup, he's been dynamite offensively, his slapshot is excellent. Would it be bad to compare him to Sheldon Souray?

I compared him to Robidas last year, so I don't necessarily see the Souray one.
I also wouldn't be shocked to see Bell taken late in the 2012 draft. I thought he might have a chance to go last year, despite the incident. At the start of last year I had him as a potential 1st rounder, so the player is still in there somewhere.

Bell had a good season despite missing games and playing through injuries. In fact Kelowna was a very young team plagued with injuries.
With Bulmer and Mccolgan gone next year he could be tops in points along with Colten. Bell wore the A on his jersey at times which must show a great deal of respect from the team and his mates. One could only imagine how well he could of played without all the off ice issues which are now resolved. He can start to move forward and try and get back to where he should be. Does he go in the draft or get a try out I would like to know peoples thoughts.

Well the Islanders do have a penchant for taking players that have fallen due to off ice issues in the 3rd round. for Instance Petrov with his contract situation in the KHL, Cizikas with his rugby incident, Kabanov with his attitude problem. Maybe Snow does it again with Bell?
