Completely Hypothetical But..

As it says in the title, this is completely hypothetical. I'm not sure I'd do this, just asking for opinions because I think it's interesting to see what people think.

As of today, would you do Frolov for Zherdev straight up?

So far, Frolov has 2 goals and 2 assists in 7 games. He carries a $3M cap hit. Zherdev on the other hand has 2 goals and 0 assists through 9 games, and carries a $2M cap hit. Both are on one year deals.

Please, I'm not bringing this up so we can start great Zherdev debate again, I'm just curious as to if Ranger fans would take this deal.

No point. I'm just saying if your GM of the Rangers and the GM of the Flyers calls you up and says he'll send you Zherdev for Frolov straight up, would you do it?

No because I'd want to see frolov for much more games before trading him in a lateral move.

I'd say why bother, then, after my guys are healthy, I call him back and tell him he could have Frolov for a 2nd, and I don't care what they do with Zherdev.

Cap wise, Frolov is an extra million on the cap hit. Both are on one year deals. Zherdev is younger. They are pretty even. For some reason, I'd prefer Frolov even though the stats do not indicate anything drastic. Frolov has a couple of 30 goal seasons.

When Frolov carries the puck into the offensive zone, he doesnt get knocked on his arse and lay on the ice contemplating what just happened for the next 5-10 seconds.

So no deal.

No. Please remember how productive Zherdev was under Tortorella.

Frolov is extremely talented. Watch him control the puck along the boards.

We currently have the bigger, stronger, hungrier, and better version of Zherdev in Frolov - why we would even consider trading one for the other is beyond me.

BTW; the players are not even remotely similar in style, gameplay, or size. I'm not sure why they get compared all the time.

nope - i hate zherdev, he's a ****ing disgrace to the game. he legit has the talent to be a top 5 forward in the game yet for some reason he's mentally incapable of bring his best effort every night or even throughout the course of a game. i dont know whether its an attitude problem or a confidence problem, but I dont see the bonus of bringing in wasted talent to a team that is starving for offensive talent. every team he goes to he wows his teammates during practice and plenty of them have said they've never played with someone who is that gifted with the puck. yet come game time zherdev cant be counted on. i wish he wouldve stayed in the khl.

I like Frolov's overall game more.

He's strong on the puck and he's reliable defensively.

Zherdev has a ridiculous amount of skill, and I still like him, but I'd rather have Frolov, he fits more with what the team is trying to accomplish.

As everyone else has said - Frolov is tough on the puck, can get in the dirty areas and work his ass off - Zherdev is known for pretty much the exact opposite

I think Zherdev is a little more 'talented'. But I feel Frolov is without a doubt, the better hockey player.

This is a no-brainer, imo.

We know what Zherdev gives us. I'd rather stick with Frolov and see what he can do rather than trading for a known and underwhelming commodity. And as others have said, even if he doesn't match Z's scoring output, he's a far more complete player.

Not a chance. Frolov hasn't set the world on fire but his work in the corners is heads above Zherdev.

Why? Frolov is the better player now, and each are on one year deals.

Plus we already know that Zherdev didn't work well under Torts.
