MN High School Hockey Tournament

Texas has football.
Indiana has basketball.
Minnesota has hockey. No other place in the country cares enough to sell out a NHL arena to watch High Schoolers.

Teams have punched their ticket to the dance. It's time for this thread.

Still got one more game there buck-o tomorrow to decide the rest. Maple Grove has to play Blaine (again) to make it to State for the first time. This is their best shot ever to win it and god please let them....

Section 1AA Final is tomorrow between Lakeville North and Lakeville South.

Section 2AA final was lastnight with Edina advancing by a 6-2 score over Burnsville.

Section 3AA final is tonight, Eagan faces off against Apple Valley. (Go Apple Valley, Hudson Fasching is an amazing player!)

Section 4AA final takes place tomorrow night between Hill Murray and White Bear Lake.

Section 5AA also takes place tomorrow night between Maple Grove and Blaine.

Section 6AA took place lastnight with Eden Prairie advancing over Wayzata by a 4-3 score in OT.

Section 7AA takes place tonight between Duluth East and Grand Rapids.

Section 8AA Moorehead advanced lastnight over Bemidji by a 2-0 score.

So the only tickets punched so far are Edina, Eden Prairie and Moorehead.

BTW - I think this thread should be stickied through next week.

Probably should have written "teams have started to punch tickets" rather than "teams have punched their tickets" but the point remains the same.

And this is stickied.

Crap... Eagan tops Apple Valley 1-0 for the Section 3AA title.

Duluth East takes down Grand Rapids 2-1 in OT for the Section 7AA title.

Edina, Eden Prairie, Moorehead, Eagan and Duluth East have all secured their spots.

Just realized this had to be the first non Roseau-Moorhead section 8 final I can remember. It's always one of those two teams.

That's because Moorehead and Roseau played in the semi-finals.

Word. Hudson is a beast at hockey and soccer. I played tennis with him last year and he was pretty good at that too. He's also really down to earth. Overall awesome person.

Can we draft him?

I play hockey with his uncle. Even though it is family, he's had nothing but good things to say about the kid.

If there was 1 Minnesota player that I would want the Wild to draft this coming draft it would be this kid. Also, his uncle is a pretty good hockey player as well.

FYI - Fasching is just a sophmore. He won't be draft eligible for a couple more years...

I'll be at the Coliseum tonight.

Blaine/Maple Grove first. Then White Bear/Hill

Hey I'm just happy my high school finally has enough players to form its own team. Of course I think they finished winless this year but it's a start?
