Love the nickname for the first line..ATM.

Someone has to start clearing the net for Price. We have given up a handlful of identical goals where an opposing player is just standing in front of Price with no one around him. And because Price has to fight to see the puck it goes in. Tonight was just unfortunate for him that he was caught looking the wrong way twice.
Our team defense has really been good with the exception of two games so far this year which is nice to see.

Countdown until the return of The General begins...
Agreed, 6 of the last 8 goals have been point shots. And everyone has had a guy posted right on top of Price. Tonight, two of them were deflected. It's quite fustrating!

They need to either
a. pressure the point men
b. clear the crease

currently, they are doing niether.

Maybe Subban is making him look good but Picard has been absolutely solid all the games he played, right now he's above Spacek and well above O'Byrne.

Edit: I could use other currency that is so worthless in North America, it would require tens of thousands just to make a dollar.

Or *prepares to get flamed *

c. Price needs to learn how to track the puck better. The guy's big for Pete's sake, play bigger with traffic!

Anyone else like Pouliot tonight again? Yeah the PS was pathetic, but the guy is laying it out all on the ice, I was hoping he'd get that goal to lift his spirits.

Scott Gordon to the Isles staff... No Video reviews on the second line, throw the tapes out, just cover Gionta.

Once again at the top in the East. Now if Cammy can start hitting the net.

Two tonight were deflections. One against the Devils was a deflection. So half of the 6 were from deflections. So three goals have been from straight point shots.

Still something should be done, too many shots from the point getting through while a body is standing right on top of Price. Same thing is happening in St.Louis with Halak, a lot of the shots he's been letting in have been from the point because he defense doesn't clear the net and doesn't pressure the point men. It's hard for a goalie.

All-around great team effort. Gio's got the effort, still no execution. Spacek is by default in the "bad"
I thought Spacek had a good game, limited the giveaways and moved the puck better. His penality on bailey was a fantom call.

lol....from tsn.ca (they might edit it so link will probably be dead soon)
http://tsn.ca/community/story/?id=338826

"In the third period, John Tavares scored 13 seconds into the frame to bring the Islanders to within one before Halpern scored for the Canadiens to give the Habs a two-goal advantage again.

Islanders defenceman Radek Martinek was given a penalty shot midway through the frame after being tripped on the breakaway, but couldn't beat Carey Price."

If memory serves me right it was Pouliot on Rolloson...unless i missed a minute of play

Score's a bit misleading IMO, habs fully deserved that one.

Once we get Markov back and our PP rolling we'll be pretty dangerous.

I am aware it's hard for a goalie, being a goalie myself. It's not that Price should be stopping each deflection, that's not what I'm saying. What I'm basically saying is that he needs to be a bit more aggressive when it comes to traffic in front of his net. Often he's too deep in his net, I just wish he'd challenge a bit more in those situations.

Of course, the D needs to help him out too. No question about that.

Some random comments:

- James "The Mime" Wisniewski has a positively Souray-esque slapshot. Best point shot I've seen in a while (mind you, Mr. Subban is getting better each game).

- Plekanec for Mayor.

- Probably Price's weakest game. Not bashing, just an observation. I don't anticipate him to play 82 gems. The difference this year is that the team won, not lost.

- A comment on the goals. Deflections are never really the goalie's fault, but I hope the goalie coaches talk to him about how he looks around traffic. This game and last he got beat on far out shots (twice tonight) when the puck came around the opposite side he was looking, leaving him out of position a bit. Not saying he should have had any of those goals, but if he was looking on the correct side, there's a higher chance of getting lucky. Nitpicking though.

- Last thing on Price, but he could probably use a day off.

- Another solid game from Darche. I like Boyd, but I think Darche is making a solid case not to go back to the nacho box.

- Picard's initial shininess is wearing off. He is looking more tentative each game. I'd give O'Byrne one last try on Friday before having to choose when Markov is back.

- One of Pouliot's better games this year.

- Props where props are due. That was a 200% better effort from Spacek. Last game vs. Phoenix was the worst effort I'd ever seen a pro player put in. He was perfectly good tonight. Not amazing, but hardly a liability.

- Gomez and Gionta had a lot more jump, which was encouraging, or at least Gionta did. Gomez never looks like he has jump. I honestly put the early season problems mostly on Gionta who has just looked terrible. Gomez is usually the set up man and with a cast of rotating wingers on one side and a tiny man who looks like he's on another planet on the other, he hasn't had much of a chance.

He's tracked the puck well, but the Wisnewski one he had 3-4 players in the line of the shot and it came with no warning. The other 2 goals were deflected from short distance. NYI was passing to the point and crowding the net.

Almost as bad as Pat Hickey saying Eller's assist on AK46's goal the other night was his first NHL point.

It was a phantom call, but I don't think he particularly stood out tonight. Maybe "bad" is harsh, but I'm still not seeing the Spacek that was in Buffalo/the playoffs. Maybe I've set my standards too high for him, after all, I went out and bought his t-shirt on day 1.
