Patrik Elias

i know we could start a thread for every player on this team except zubrus ( as clarkson scores a gift goal)

but elias play is so bad its almost to the point were he should be a healthy scratch, i mean he is a liability on the ice right now. i would rather hadve zharkov in his spot

I hope he has a broken leg we don't know about... because he almost seems immobile at this point.

He's been pretty terrible. His contract is starting to look very bad. I hope for our sake he turns it around. One very troubling sign is his foot speed is gone.

I thought Elias looked bad last postseason but I didn't get much support in that sentiment then, looks like that's the only thing that has changed

I hate nitpicking like this, and I don't wanna be a dick, but he's been on the team for like 13 years. Can we spell his first name correctly?

It looks like he's only playing for the dollar out there. Looking like Eliashin out there.

He's floating much more than he ever has, and his passing has gone to ****. I don't know what happened to the Patty I knew and loved, because this isn't him.

What's to ask?

According to many here, Brian Sutter "ruined" him by "stripping him of the C".

This was when everybody hated Sutter after liking him, hating him, liking him again and then finally hating him once more.

I think Elias and Arnott are really afraid to get their hands dirty and just play the damn game along the boards. This slick passing, "You're here like...'Baam'" style is just looking sad.

He isn't as young as he once was. Playing with new line mates. I still have fate in the old fart that it will get going for him. He could score 5 goals on Marty every night and he would still be my favorite devil.

If he doesn't pick it up well....

he's not lifting, so his role is going to have to be diminished. problem is that there's really no #2 C out there, so it's not like you're doing Kovalchuk a favor bumping him up.

this team is just brutally constructed. alot of things that had to happen, aren't happening.

This is the truth. If venting makes people feel better than by all means do it. The sad truth is this is what we have now as a team and probably not much besides some purging can be done if the players don't pick up their game.

Wow, yesterday Elias was untradeable when I talked about him in threads and today there's two threads dedicated to him.

Elias is one of my favorite players and he's been a huge part of the Devils for a while now. Have to give him the benefit of the doubt for now and see if this is just a slump or if it's just a result of bad coaching or external factors right now.

If this keeps up though, then this Devils team is due for a relatively large turnover the next two or three years.

I may be the only one, but I still see a team that looks totally uncoached. They don't play a system, they don't have a defined forecheck structure, they don't have set lines, they don't know where teammates are on the ice, they don't have any organization on defense. I really have to say MacLean is absolutely the worst coach I have ever seen at any level of professional hockey, bar-none.

Once Larry gets promoted, I think a lot of people around here will be VERY surprised how much better they start to look. Of course, with the kind of start we've had, we may have already missed the playoffs.

Montreal wants a left winger to play with Gomez and Gionta....how about reuniting the EGG line up there by dealing Patty for Hal Gill, Travis Moen and a 2nd round pick? It take 4 mill off our cap hit, gives us a big tough body on D (which we thought we had a lot of but apparently they're all out hurt right now) and saves us $6 mil a year for the next 2.

With Kovy back on LW and Zach there too...and than ROLFston coming back in a few weeks, we have the LW covered. Bring up Tedenby to add some speed to the line-up..Patty's definitely slowed down.

He's probably one of our better tradeable assets but he does have a NTC.

sorry, i dont want to trade patty. or parise. or any of our offensivemen...well, I would trade langs for a steamed pebble****, but thats all. we have the sickest team right now. if mac is using a system at all, he needs to sit with lou, larry, and adam and re-tool it. thats all. id be ok with them going back to trapping...creating chances off of NZ turnovers, with this lineup, would be ridiculous. plus, that system would help support our admittedly suckass defense. some days i want mac fired, some i dont, but if he is willing to make changes, we will be ok without trading away our franchise points/goals/whatever leader and parise, who we all know is the absolute boobies. just my 2 cents

For czech version of the biggest european ice hockey magazine - ProHockey Patty said in interview: "as soon as I knew Arnie`s coming back I sent him a message - you have to start practicing, you`ve probably forgotten how fast I am".

Ugh.

Nobody on the team is scoring. Parise has gotten his last 2 points in garbage time. Zajac has like, what? 4 points?

The trouble is when your defense can't make a good outlet pass and can't get out of it's zone for minutes at a time, it's hard for forwards to generate much offense.

Elias still has the speed and skill. Bret Hull in his prime would have trouble scoring on this team right now.

THANK you..agreed 100%. whats more likely- elias, parise, kovy, clarkson, etc etc etc arent good hockey players anymore, or they not being utilized correctly?
