Favorite post-lockout Devils season

From beginning to end, what has been your favorite post lockout Devils season? For me, there's absolutely no question about it, you have to go with the amazing 2006-07 team that not only made it to the second round, but finished really well in the regular season too.

As if that wasn't enough, we had ****ing awesome defense (Rafalski's last year here ) and Martin Brodeur was an animal notching 12 regular season shutouts. Yes, you read that right, 12.

I don't care if we were "boring" that year, we won hockey games consistently and we made it to the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Which was the season where we stole the Atlantic division on the last day of the regular season right under the Rags' nose? THAT was the Season I liked the best.

Agreed, 08-09 season for me

despite playoffs, that team really was special, first 50 win season in franchise history, every game brought something new and exciting

that tough fourth line which sometimes consisted of Zubrus, Rupp and Holik, the addition of Shanny, Zajac breaking out, Langs having his best season, all those OT/come from behind wins, Clemmer stepping up big, Gio and Elias having great years, Oduya having his best year and the list goes on......Sutter had really got that team going great on all cylinders, his system worked well until he started playing Madden and Pando top minutes in the playoffs over the ZZ pops line

07-08, and only that is because this board peaked during that time. It's been downhill since.

But then, comparing these last five seasons is kind of like comparing the last five ***** you took.

05-06. Still convinced we could have won the cup.

Gionta's 48 goals. The 15 (or 14?) winning streak to close out the season, combining with a first round sweep of the Rangers

Which lockout?

'94-'95 for me. Look at that lineup.

Slava Fetisov
Ken Daneyko
Scott Stevens
Jaroslav Modry
Tommy Albelin
Chris McAlpine
Mike Peluso
Neal Broten
Tom Chorske
Corey Millen
Jim Dowd
Brian Rolston
Bill Guerin
John MacLean
Bobby Holik
Sergei Brylin
Bobby Carpenter
Alexander Semak
Randy McKay
Claude Lemieux
Bruce Driver
Valeri Zelepukin
Jason Smith
Scott Niedermayer
Kevin Dean
Shawn Chambers
Martin Brodeur
Chris Terreri
Stephane Richer

Richer made $700k that season too to put things into perspective.

05-06'

The team just seemed magical with all the things they over came. Even with the disaster that eventually occurred with seconds left in round 2, I will always remember that season by the Elias goal on Lundqvist in game 4 of the first round.

I'm serious, though. Does anyone remember what season that was? Where the Devis won the Division on the last day of the Regular season?

This is my pick, as well.

The team was in total disarray, then Lou took over and Elias came back from Hepatitis to save the team and win the division on the last day of the season, overcoming a huge Rangers lead in points.

Hell, they even came back from 3 goals down to win the last game of the season to win the division.

Can't believe they were 1.2 seconds (I think) from tying the series against Carolina.

They beat the Rangers by one point and tied the Flyers in points. The Devils had more wins than the Flyers. The last game was the one in Montreal where they were down 3-0 and came back to win.

Anyways, it has to be Gio's big year. I made the trip from ROC to NJ near the end of the regular season and was there in person when he scored the franchise tying goal against Philly. It. Was. Amazing.

I agree with this. Just the sweep against the Rangers is enough.

What is your favorite form of execution? Lethal Injection? Electric Chair? Hanging? Firing Squad? I prefer the oldie but goodie Drawn and Quartered.
