Not sure if it is that serious though. Came back in the third to try, but then left almost immediately. Hopefully just trying to prevent worsening it

I agree, tonight was NOT a good game for the team. The Handzus line was good, and Quick had a great game but otherwise the Kings were clearly tired and slow. They stopped winning all those battles along the boards that propelled them to wins over the past few weeks. The breakout wasn't really clicking either.

I think the Kings are lucky to come out of there with a win. They were not the better team tonight.

We played better in Chicago, but a win is a win is a win. We needed Quick to step up, and he did. JJ was fantastic, once again, and the third line was dynamite. Even though we miss Fro's puck protection, Poni fits that third line so well. Clifford played his best game, which was also good to see.

Nice to be on top, eh?

Also, hopefully the Simmonds injury is nothing serious...

Again the Kings played 2 different games. The first half of the game, they couldn't connect on passes, turned the puck over at both blue lines. The Stars put a lot of pressure on the Kings in the 2nd and then, poof, Poni scores and then Simmonds quickly scores on a breakaway. The Kings started to skate better and passes started connecting. Quick made some bigs saves for the Kings tonight, definitely the #1 star of the game, but I would give Poni star #3 over Simmonds. Poni was a beast tonight and scored a big goal for the Kings. Poni is amazing on the PK, he always seems to get deflections and is great at clearing the puck down the ice.

Poni fills his role perfectly on the Kings right now. The Kings played a great road third period tonight and the goal by Segal was very strange. It looked like Quick was reaching for his stick and Segal just threw it at the net and it deflected up high. Don't know what the replays showed, but it was a strange sequence of events.

Clifford's best game in the NHL tonight, he was the only one hitting in the first couple of periods and landed a pretty good punch in his fight.

How about Mitchell scoring the first goal by a defenseman this season? Who would have thought he would be the top scoring defenseman on the Kings.

It was fun ripping on the Stars fans that were around me, but there weren't many people at the game. It looked only a quarter full tonight.

Feels good to leave the American Airlines Center after a big Kings win!

So the Kings are #1 and the Devils are #30. Great decision, Kovalchuk.

I'm on this bandwagon, thought it was the worse game of the year up there with the Pho game. Then Simmonds had his min of greatness and it seemed to kill Dallas' momentum. But if Quick hadn't been a wall early coulda been 4-1 before Poni's goal.

"Two different games" is a good way to put it, although I would say the first half (outside the first few minutes) was like 67% Stars/33% Kings, or possibly worse from the Kings' perspective; the second half was more like 55% Stars/45% Kings. In my view the Kings were outplayed in both games, but not quite as badly in the second. But hey, sometimes you get those quick goals and get a win when you don't really deserve it. I'll take it, particularly after the disappointment last night.

Segal's goal looked like luck to me. The replay I saw appeared to show him just turning and flinging the puck at the net, and Quick was leaned over just enough to allow the puck to skip off his back and into the net.

And what was up with attendance tonight? It looked VERY low. Was there inclement weather or something? Is that midwestern storm system hitting Texas as well?

Weather was perfect tonight. In the 50's.

I wonder what the "paid" attendance ended up being. I think a lot people stayed home to watch the world series. The Rangers have never won a playoff series until this season and are making their first appearance in the world series. Texas loves a bandwagon.

Definitely the lowest attendance I have seen at a Kings-Stars game since I moved here 5 years ago. They are usually pretty well attended.
