Maybe to trading Grachev.

Absolutely not to trading Kreider.

Johnny, our hope is that Kreider turns into a top line winger.

And you're never able to get a proven version of what your prospect MIGHT be.

Kreider is a huge question mark. Only a rebuilding team would even consider losing a top player for prospects only.

Exactly.
Maybe, maybe Kreider if Malkin is involved, and even then, I want to see if Pens agree to alternate deal.

Kreider will never be anything close to Malkin. Stop over-rating our prospects. Holy cow. Maybe? If Malkin in involved? Jesus Christ.

yes to underline; no to bold
We expect, barring injury, of course, for Kreider to be a top winger.

Accordingly, it is Grachev who is the question mark.

Both of those players would need to be part of a package for one of those players. Something like Grachev + roster player + pick for elite player.

Because of what, exactly.

I've forced myself to watch a lot of Kreider's games, and, I think his hockey sense needs to improve tenfold to be an NHL star.

he has the tools, does not have the smarts. And its hard to teach smarts.

Despite his low ice time this year he should at least be impacting the game, and he has not been.

You won't get any of them for that.

Try Savard. I am sure Bruins fans would have some interest.

Grachev really only has value to NYR. As I have said when he was with Brampton, I think he is a product of playing with Hodgson and Duchene. He is way overhyped by NYR as most prospects are to their respective fan bases. He had a horrible year in the AHL. Please save me from hearing how bad the team was again.

He was a 3rd round pick not a steal in the 3rd. He is a project that could work out or not work out. He was a 3rd for those reasons.

Prospects alone do not get you elite players unless is some insane salary dump and NYR cannot take that on .

The "hack" played half a season last year and still outscored all but 4 of our forwards (Joker excluded).

no he's good and I like him but he's injured all the time. That ship sailed when we let him go 10 years ago.

Also, that aforementioned stat is more of a testament to how bad we were, than to how good he is.

So he is not a hack anymore? He is good now?

He is just injured all the time? So how many games Savard missed in last 6 seasons?

I do not gush with such praise for all our prospects.
I stand by my claim that, barring injury, Kreider will be the next Dave Keon.

Malkin is truly uber elite right now. I did not say Kreider was or would surely be his equal. Don't put words in my mouth.

I am saying if the Pens every decided to deal Malkin, which is a separate question altogether, and to do so for enough profit to a division rival, another valid question, then Kreider is at the top of the prospect list they'd consider. My point there is I would prefer to give up something else instead of Kreider.

only 3 Habs players could interest the Blue Shirts: Gionta, Cammalleri and Andrei Kostitsyn, so I thank that AK46 could be a possible target in his breakout year but maybe not. Gionta could be a great possibility also because he's a great leader and could score but I agree that the Rangers should not pitch a porpsect like Kreider to get him. Just for the fun, Im interest to swap Kristo + something (Stepan's partner at the last WJC) for Kreider. Is it a possiblity or no interest at all?

Because of his raw talent. I understand he was rated best skater in his draft (I don't know this for a fact, but I think I remember that somewhere and it is plausible enough a claim.)

Kreider is making an important adjustment.
He reportedly has bulked up, which will to some degree help at the NHL level; same reports so far he has not lost significant speed, which is key to his potential TO BE (i.e., become) a dominant player.

I agree with you he has to learn, possibly even a lot to learn.
But let's not be unreasonable and expect that with as little development time as he has had he's going to jump straight to NHL and dominate.

Since you have access to his games, I look forward to your constructive criticism as a possible benchmark of how far he has to go before he can get here.

Please keep me advised as to what you think.
Thank you.
