2010 Karjala Tournament

The first three-game part of the Euro Hockey Tour is right around the corner. The games will be Pär Mårts' first as bench boss of Tre Kronor.

What are your expecations, roster-wise, etc.?

I want to see a center lineup of Fredrik Warg, Gabriel Karlsson, and Mikael Johansson.

More players under 25 than BÅG would pick, marginally better structure in the defensive zone, more forchecking and better interviews.

So what's your opinion?
A couple of surprises.. (Jämtin? Sjögren?)
Loving the choice of defencemen.

Might as well copy and paste so that everyone can read the roster without clicking the link...

Seven players (Erixon, Ekholm, Fälth, Krüger, Sjögren, Olausson and Silfverberg) will make their Tre Kronor debuts in this tournament. Fälth is the only one of them who hasn't played on the national team at either U-18 or U-20 level.

Four players born in the 70s and four born in 1990 exemplifies the diversity of players on the team.

I like the naming of Fälth, he has been red hot. Will work good on the 2nd PP unit. Rest of the D felt kinda expected.

Silfvergberg was probably taken in front of say Järnkrok because he fits better as a role player, and Mårts probably wants to run an energy line. Silfverberg-Sjögren-Jämtin? Interesting to see line-ups later on.

Players under 20 are apparently a no-no until WJC is over.

True, although I think Järnkrok would've been the only one in question atm.

Quite weird to see an EHT team without either Davidsson or Mårtensson, but tbh in a way it feels like a breath of fresh air.

Nice to see so many youngsters on the team.

davidsson has always been soft when it matters. It is only the swedish media who dont get that.

However what is Warg and Melin doing there? I thought the BÅG era was over. Warg must been the most useless player ever in tre kronor.

Why didnt your coach take Martensson and Weinhandl? Even if I wanted to try some new faces, I would still take these over some other vets, so it looks strange to mee.

Are you on something, jfc?

You really do need to stick to English on here.

Hehe, must have been...even though I was a fan of BAG I really feel there is not a change in the way Mårts picks players. Too many good names missing and not the best team we could put on skates. Suspiciously many players not dressing up in the last round of SEL, too. Injured or not we could look forward to seeing some of these players replacing some of the worst players later on: (are we up to BAG 58 names used during a season yet?)
