There is absolutely nothing wrong with 3-4-27-30. (Or even 3-4-26-27-30.)

I swear to God, some of you are still so butthurt over this, it's actually kind of funny.

Fine. Then the Ducks should retire his number, not us.

I honestly don't think I'll go to any more games if they hang that jersey up there. I don't think it would be fair to the person in front me getting puked on.

then don't go. if I didn't go for them doing something I didn't like, I wouldn't have gone 100 times over.

It's not that they're doing something I don't like, it's that they're shoving that thing in my face. Would you go to the arena if you had to look at a #11 Messier jersey? Same idea.

If Messier did for the Devils what he did for the Rags, I'd love looking at the rafters.

"Shoving it in your face"?

Seriously? You seriously typed that? With a straight face?

waaaah waaaaaah Scotty left us and he called us fat on the way out!

Jesus Christ, he paid his dues to the Devils and when he had an opportunity to go play with his brother and chase a Cup, he did.

When I think of the New Jersey Devils I think of Martin Brodeur, Scott Stevens and Scott Niedermayer.

Wow some of you are taking this to heart. All i said is if he wanted his number retired as a Devil Retire as a Devil. If he came back for 3 games i would support it. I am just not a fan of retiring another players jersey that isn't on/retired on this team. This has nothing to do with his accomplishments for the Devils when he was here or the Ducks. I just want said player to retire on my team before said players numbers are in the rafters.

He doesn't and he didn't. I Just feel that if the Devils want to honor him he should retire as a Devil.

The Devils have been and are a team first type of organization. To retire a player who isn't on the team feels wrong to me.

I can understand your point of view, even if I don't agree with it.

I'm one of those who feels MacLean shouldn't be retired because of the way he left the team. But his situation and Nieds are two totally different scenario's.

So Bobby Orr, Patrick Roy, Bobby Hull, etc. shouldn't have numbers in the rafters with their initial teams...Okay. Can't compete with that logic.

Totally right lets all just retire 66 while we are at it.

Did we win those cups because of Neids alone? No. Did he help? Yes. I am proud he was a Devil, but he was a Devil on team first organization. A team that helped him win just as he helped the team. The Devils are a Team organization and he wasn't on that team when he retired. As i said before his accomplishments (while great) are nothing compared to this team.

I'm fine with us retiring Nieds's number, but I wish we would wait a bit before we do it.

I still think retiring numbers at all is a mistake.
