I like him. He's not playing as well as he is capable of, but I really do like his game. He's a strong hitter and he knows where to go on defense. He's not the most skilled guy, but he reads the play well, unlike Gilroy. I think the best is definitely yet to come with Eminger and I like him as the 6th / 7th. I just wish Sauer was the definite 5th.
Some of you just NEED someone to complain about and put blame on. You see him make one bad play and then every time he's not flawless, you **** on him. It's sad to see. For the most part, he's been solid. Not great, but solid. He's had a few bad turnovers, but so have Staal, Girardi, DZ, Rozy.

Eminger is here to stay.
Sure nobody is perfect, but when you have nothing positive to contribute to the team, you have to go. There is no situation I want to see him out there in, not 1. If that is the case, he needs to go.

Oh really? If that were true, Gilroy wouldn't have made it past game #2.
I guess since Rozy and Girardi (last year's whipping boys) are playing great, you guys have moved onto Eminger. Your 5th and 6th D don't need to play like your first pair. They're going to make mistakes. That's why they're 5th and 6th D's. Eminger has been solid and light years better than our 3rd pair last year. Redden and Gilroy? How quickly some of you forget.
Steve Eminger is not the problem with this team. He's not even the 3rd or 4th biggest problem right now.
Meh, I havent been able to watch all the games because of work, but the games i've watched he hasnt played that bad, or at least not bad enough for me to care either way.

Now all I want is Torts the smug stupid goatee clown to be fired , . I hate Torts . Please hockey gods make him get fired. Please Sean punch him in face" -- Dorado
I wouldn't say he sucks. He isn't a 24 minute D man though. At least not yet.
Come on. This is totally ridiculous. I dont know if I have seen a worse Rangers defenseman, defensively speaking. Malik was better than Del Zotto in his own end.
Del Zotto cant even keep the puck in on the powerplay. Its shocking when he makes a defensive play.
Interesting point, Eminger-Gilroy were the only D pairing that wasn't on the ice for a goal against tonight.
Yeah, I had said that in the GDT. The people on here are just looking for the convenient target. They are in denial of the fact that the likes of Staal and Del Zotto have absolutely sucked to this point so far.

Yeah and they have also had good games, just like the "okay" game Eminger and Gilroy had tonight.
Saying because Staal and DZ have bad games, we should keep Eminger the mega suck around is a terrible argument.
He is BARELY a 7th d-man. He has no potential, he has no upside. He was had for god damn Aaron Voros. I mean really. (Have we mentioned yet Anaheim isn't exactly a team with great defense. Don't you think if he was worth anything, or had potential, they would have kept him?)
He should be in the minor leagues learning how to play defense.
God, Ranger fans are so bipolar.
We want a young team: "Sit all the young players after a bad game! Let's play Eminger/Gilroy in the top-pair over Del Zotto!"
Pick one or the other. You can't want a young team, and then complain over and over and over again when they make mistakes due to lack of experience. He's shown he's an NHLer, through and through. He's not even THAT bad defensively. He's just very inconsistent. And at age 20, that's correctable. I'd MUCH rather see Del Zotto getting experience than seeing some 3rd pairing dman in the top-4. We have to play them eventually, might as well do it now, when the team has no chance at winning anything.

Thats not the point. The point is that the guys playing 12-14 minutes a night, not on ice for any goals, are not the reason the team lost the game tonight. They lost because the top 4 defensemen sucked. Plain and simple. This message board has a bad habit on ignoring the struggles of the players that are truly important to success of the team. If the top 4 play up to their billing, the team wins the game. Eminger and Gilroy had minimal impact on this game, but we have a poll about Eminger and give the rest free passes.
