I think before you come on here and claim that the flyers are going after everyone, back it up. A lot of the time, the stories about Philadelphia are just that, stories. After "L'Affair Lindros", Clarke has been very protective of the Flyers locker room and will not go after players who might be a disruption to the locker room.
Just because Clarke did not get those players doesn't mean he didn't show interest.

I think you missed my point. I wasn't trying to make a statement about how the Flyers have gone after every single available person. I just found it humourous that many of the higher profile players have consistently been targeted by both teams. I meant it in a good way.

From everything I have heard yes.. Burke did offer Umberger less than Kesler who is described as visibly more NHL "ready".
Umberger apears to be another project similar to Fedorov.
Apperentely Umberger was looking for a 900,000 contract, whereas the Canucks were offering something in the range of 600,000-700,000.. Meanwhile signing a deal with Kesler for 800,000 I believe. For Umberger it become more of a matter of principles.. It looked like an insult to him.

As for the Rangers.. I heard they offered a 300,000 contract??? Where his agent then countered with the rookie max demand.. I don't think they were serious in signing Umberger in the least.

I'm not sure why Burke didn't want to sign Umberger. But something must have scared him off. The Canucks have limited prospect depth, and nothing that could really be considered top end talent or blue chip prospects. Outside of Koltsov.
That in itself should speak volumes about Umberger.

Burke is a strubborn man, so perhaps Umberger just got on his bad side, and Burke refused to give an inch.

What is the situation?! It sure would be nice to have another good prospect! I guess you could turn him into winger. He is listed at 6'2 200lbs, was that taken at the draft? Hopefully he's put on some weight.

Burke is a stuborn man.. Without a doubt. So whats your explanation for the rangers giving him his chance to play and show his worth and then pretty much blowing him off. You can be guaranteed that if the Rangers felt he was worth the money they wouldn't have any qualms about giving him his due.

They seen what he could do and decided the second round draft pick was a better option.(not to mention in a terribly weak draft)

"They compete for the Stanley Cup every year, but have made a commitment to youth in the next year or so."

Sure sounds more like the Flyers than the Leafs to me.
