The looming cap moves have to be a major distraction for the players. Lou needs to get on that.
i have been saying that since pre season, i truly believe it effects players, just like how a few games \before trade deadline, expect this has been for months. i am really disappointed in lams for this. all these injuries are just delaying the inevitable and delaying the chemistry building process.
poor, poor job by front office on this one. now it's all mixed with injuries and almost a lost season
15-21-5 after the first 41 with much improvement in December, followed by 30-10-1 sexy time.
45-31-6 and 96 points: In the playoffs, mutha****aas.
With that being said, this team has been too good for too long, and the guys in that locker room have an image to uphold. (That is, if they care.) The Devils will make the playoffs this year.

Compared to previous games, it looked like the effort was there all game. We did outshoot them 40-23. Eventually those shots will fall in. The defense looked like it's FINALLY starting to move the puck out effectively. Our rookies are starting to show something finally. I just hope that injury to Parise isn't too bad. I want him to be a Devil for life so bad, definitely my favorite athlete of any sport.
I'm wondering, does any other team have as many rookies as us?

The Kings were playing Westgarth, Schenn, Clifford, and Muzzin. They have Loktionov and Lewis up, but they were scratched. And Bernier is the back-up
Problem is, the Kings are playing these guys because they think they are ready and they want to. The Devils are doing it because of injuries and cap issues.

Thank you. Someone with a little optimism. Even if they don't pull it off, **** this pessimism. LET'S GO DEVILS.

I agree. Players normally go into training camp with nothing but the upcoming season in mind. This year, it was all "well... will I still be here?" then the gong show with the 16 man roster, etc.
I think the lack of talent on the blue line is the team's biggest issue, but the circus atmosphere created by management is likely a close second.
30-10-1 may be stretching it, but I think this team can pull it together when healthy*
*Problem is, when they're all healthy there's going to have to be moves.
well, look at it this way. to get to 92 points (bare minimum) with a 30-10-1 (61 point) second half, they need 31 points in the first half. right now, they're on pace for 24.
It's only the start of November. It looks bleak right now, and I am worried, but I still believe they can do it. I will not lose hope unless they are mathematically eliminated.
This franchise has been one of the better hockey clubs in the NHL for damn near two decades.
We have experienced so many great times as fans of the Devils, and now we owe it to them to keep the faith through this bleak time, and to believe that they'll work through this. That, and it's still October/November, for the love of Christ.

Couldn't agree more. Now is when they need the fans behind them most, and I'm not giving up hope on October 31st.
