Bieksa struggles to make his point

Quote:
“Obviously I’m not happy about it, but we’re winning,” he said. “I watched my last game — my wife PVR’d it — and I watched the whole game thinking, ‘What’s going on here?’ I could have had five assists that game, you know, posts that other guys hit and stuff. I’m not too worried about it.”

“You know what, it’s been a slow start,” he said. “Obviously, I’m not getting as many pucks on net as I’d like. But when I think back, I’ve had chances, I’ve had numerous chances and it’s just a matter of bearing down when you do have those chances and getting pucks on net and shooting a little bit more.

“Right now my job assignment is playing against the other team’s top line and I feel like I have done a pretty good job and that gives our team a chance to win,” Bieksa said. “Shutting down those guys is great, but at the same time it is also my job to contribute a little bit and take a little bit of heat off the forwards. That goes for all of our defencemen.”

Does Bieksa get the most ice-time with the Sedins (for dmen)?

Just because you're being outscored by the backup goalie doesn't mean you need to start worrying about a lack of production. I'm glad Kevin's not worried about it.

You know you're dealing with a special talent when you have zero points playing huge minutes and the coach says it's your defensive game that needs to be better.

Way to showcase yourself Kevin. The Canucks are going to get a king's ransom for a poor defensive player that contributes nothing to the offense. I can't wait to see the look on Bieksa's face when he see's what a turd sandwich he returns in trade - either that or finds himself on the waiver wire.

Hurry back Sami.

I kind of feel sorry for the guy, but when I see him on the ice just stinkin' it up I lose all those feelings.

I can't wait for the day we finally get rid of him.

I've got lots of mixed feelings when it comes to KB, I love the guy but we need to be better. That being said, I really hope he can step up his game.

Maybe his wife should PVR every game, the prospect of having to watch himself later scared him into playing well.

Well, as you can see by my username. I was a big fan of the guy. But the last two years of fluffy play and cluelessness on his behalf says it wouldn't be a bad thing for him to catch the next plane out of town.

I mean, he was one bad SOB that basically did enough things well that it made up for the gap between his ears. Not the case anymore. I hope he gets that mean streak back somehow

Yes Kevin... it's because everyone else is hitting the post that you don't have 5 assists right now. I would be happy if he even started hitting the post himself with those shots: that would be miles closer than where his shots are currently hitting.

At least he got one thing right, though: nobody is happy with his production or play as of late.

What a *****.

If I was coaching he'd be in the pressbox based on that story alone.

"what's going on here?"

You could write this exact same article about the defensive side of his game by changing a few words...yadada 'bounces', yadada 'unlucky'. This is of course a case of general, all-around suck.

More evidence to the rumours that Bieksa is uncoachable.

I wish this had been a TV interview, just to see if he actually got that line out with a straight face.

You mean the article where the coach says "his attitude and effort are good, I think for him it’s just a question of time"?

The fans and media are now teaming up to run this guy out of town! Forget the AntiHST petition, the Bieska Petition is picking up steam!

False.

There may be exceptions, but any animosity built up regarding Bieksa has been coming for pretty much two seasons. Even through last year a lot of the rational posters on these boards felt the guy could turn his game around. Now any way you slice it the guy has looked pretty bad for a large sample size. I'd say at this point what-you-see-is-what-you-get with KB. I used to be a Bieksa fan, but he's thoroughly played himself out of my good books over the last two years.

I pretty much think that anyone who believes Bieksa deserves this amount of criticism has lost perspective on this issue.

I don't necessarily agree with the media-fueled sensationalism surrounding this issue at the moment, but I'm getting damn tired of waiting for Bieksa to get out of his 2 season funk.

The ironic thing is he's not playing that bad this year as he did in the past.
But it's obviously the "sheep" thing to do... bash this guy at every opportunity.

He's just waiting for some fan to say it to his face... (insert Fedor Fedorov incident here)
