Gaborik is not a first round bust by any stretch. That'd be like calling Mario Lemieux a first round bust because he's not playing for the Penguins right now.

I'll work on the "bust" overlay later... The Gaborik over-lay will be a "WTF" not "bust".

If you were to make it 860px wide now, it would make everyone's lives a lot easier in the long run. Just saying.

Default for this template is 860px. I just triple-checked.

Haha, this reminds me of every band I've ever been in.

Step 1: Let's start a band!
Step 2: Get all your friends together.
Step 3: Come up with a sweet name.
Step 4: Name is taken, come up with another one.
Step 5: Build a website and tell everyone about it.
Step 6: Make up some t-shirts.
Step 7: Kick around a couple song riffs.
Step 8: Drink a lot of beer and call it a day.

That'll make things easier. I can drop Gaborik entirely since he was just there for the extra spot...

I think you're missing something between 2 and 3: Brainstorm and make mental lists of songs that you guys will cover in between your originals; neither task ever gets completed.

That was dead on for my bands in middle school, but you know when you're 16 and up you're WAY too cool for covers.

Actually no you're right the second to last band I was in had a "set list" of cover songs haha...God we were lame. But the indie/art rock band after that would never cover a song.

Psssh, yeah right. That's when you gotta cover obscure songs that are faintly familiar and attempt to put your own genre-bending spin on it.

Good stuff, guys. My idea for banner would have Thelen, Pouliot and Bambi (hopefully not Gillies) with comments like 'Drafting - You're doing it wrong' or 'Consistent drafting since 2004'.

If I counted right, the previous trio had 328 games in the show before this season with 35 + 56 = 91. Not bad, eh?

Oh and aside from the hideous MS Paint banner, it's looking really nice.

Jarick, I got your article and will put it up tonight or tomorrow. Sorry, it's been a long weekend and haven't been able to get to everything as fast as I would like.

Trimmed it to size and removed Gaborik...

What's it called again when you lose a first round pick for nothing?

Can I just make a suggestion going forward re: typefaces? I think it would be good to keep things coherent in the site and always display the site name in the same font (in images, obviously in body text we just use the surrounding font). Helps establish it as a brand Specifically, I'd like to nominate we use the typeface "Franchise" for any logos, titles, etc. we might do. It's free to download (link), and even free for commercial use, and I think it pretty well (though not perfectly) matches the design aesthetic in the Wild's official typography.

Here's a very quick, rough 5-minute example of what the site name might look like:

And here's a slightly re-tooled version of bozak's awesome banner, if we decided to switch the font:

I tried to use the same copperplate font that was in the big image at the top. *grins*

Yes, I spent ten minutes trying to find which font the Wild used for the first banner. That's what I get for using Pixlr.

I had never heard of Pixlr before, so I went and checked it out. That is awesome.

Jarick wrote a nice little article on whether or not Martin Havlat is disappointing.
