yes... in the book, people went out hunting them in the winter, because the zombies were defensless (as they were frozen)... the zombie problem would then increase again in the spring

Finally got around to seeing the 1st episode and i'm officially hooked. I'm big into the Zombie and anything Apocalyptic genre so it doesn't take much to please me but this show is very well done and has more depth to it than most Zombie movies/series do. The acting is actually pretty good and the black guy sniper scene was the most intense scene for me, i can't wait to "sink my teeth" into the 2nd episode.

The only real change so far is that they added the tank and department store to the movie.

The first 2 comics are essentially him waking up, him going to Atlanta and him going to the survivors camp. They are only 20-25 pages each, and it's hard to drag that out into a TV/movie.

For e.g., see object come in sight. Recognize prey as prey. Chase prey down. how fast does the brain go from step 1 to step 3?

My other question is how would zombies do in the wintery climes of Edmonton. There would more of a "refrigeration" process so rotting would occur much slower in the winter, but then trudging through thick snow isn't easy. And how do zombies balance on icy streets or sidewalk? I can't imagine that their motor skills are all that sharp, so i can see them falling down lots. And once zombies fall, the cold weather might make dead bones brittle. Anyways, just my random zombie theories...
What do you think of an all zombie 4th line?

A little slow and not recommended on the pk but at least they'd consume half the opposition players making for a great battle of attrition.

This would ultimately be more effective than the dread Neutral Zone Trap or vaunted left wing lock.

This being especially effective in the playoffs in a seven game series. Or even divisional matchups.

I'm all for it. Make it happen Tambo.

The resultant compelling Oilers DVD set would make for great viewing. Can't wait for the next Red Wings matchup.

All I know is this show is pretty badass and I would love to bash me a zombie with a shovel or baseball bat because I'm sick in the head like that lol

3rd installment spoiler...

Caniacs 7 Walking Dead Oilers 1.

Lots of gore, Cogliano blood, and overall butchery and mayhem.

First 20 mins were pretty scary and disturbing for the kiddies.

Hall and Eberle still missing.

Don't eat the chicken gumbo..

need to bump this up because Tonights episode was IMO, the best of the season.

First off, the episode was written by the creator of the comic, Robert Kirkman wrote it.

And for spoilers, at your own risk:

Spoil:
when Glenn gets kidnapped, Rick turns on the bad ass level on the kidnappers gang. Then we find out that this gang is actually a giant bunch of soft hearts, protecting an old folks home, providing medicine and care for them. Turns out, the old folks protectors were afraid of pilagers. Then you see Rick giving out weapons to them. What a noble guy.

However, Merle is still missing, and took their van. All hell breaks loose at the end, and zombies attack the camp, with notable casulties like Amy (who died just like in the comic), and the ******* wife beater Ed (who had it coming)

Seriously. This was gold. Too bad there are only two more episodes this season.

this episode was the one where i fully came to realize that all the talk about the show "staying true to the storyline" was complete and utter BS.... the show only partially resembles the comic and is NOWHERE NEAR as good

don't get me wrong, the show is still ok, but its very frustrating to know how good it could be if they stopped trying to "hollywood-ize it"

The mediums, and the audiences for that matter, are different. Don't you think the changes are somewhat appropriate within that context?

As a guy who read the comics, I completely agree. I wasn't a fan of how every new character it seemed like was a total jerk hole. I don't like Merle, but Daryl is at least a better character. I don't really care about T-Dog, stupid name.

But this episode, even with the new things made up, it was solid. Plus, the scene at the end, was true to the comic (save for some additional content)

Also, there is a lot of ground to cover for only six episodes this season. I read somewhere that season 2 would have 13 episodes, so maybe it'll be truer to the comic.

this show is pretty brutal. gave it a fair shot for 4 episodes. its like The Stand TV series in every shape and form but with Zombies thrown in. same cliche problems and bad ideas. same kind of "feel" in the production value and dialog. sub par acting.

im sure the comics might be better but the show execution is corny as hell.

ep 4 was baaaaaad.

zombies arent exciting. the 'human' (aka western capitalist turned survivalist d o u c h e) drama in between is even less.

I loved the new episode. Great twist for the plotline as they try and get the poor asian dude back.

It's too bad it's only a 6-episode season.

Only problem is the Oilers would get alot of penalties for bitting the other team but hopefully they go after the star players first. Plus anyways the upside with Dubynk as a zombie is maybe it would increase his agility.

I've gotta disagree with you Corpse. I'm not one for TV series, but I think this one is the cat's ass. Good character development, interesting story lines, and of course.....Zombies. I have never been into a series as much as this one, it seems to bring emotions out of you that you really do not want to bare witness to. Great show IMHO.

I look forward to The Walking Dead more than I do for football now. Sundays are like Christmas for me. NFL Sunday ticket, Zombies, Dexter, Boardwalk Empire and Bored to Death.

It occured to me yesterday that if North America was ever faced with a zombie outbreak or any other kind of apocalyptic catastrophe, the middle and upper classes would be done (which would be awesome). You know who would survive? The homeless and Les Stroud.

I was going to complain that 4 episodes in, the show looked like it was cashing in on the "Lost" genre, weak slow moving character development, soap opera style, then lo and behold, some of the characters get eaten.

I hope some more of them get eaten next week. I bet the most mundane and redundant characters get eaten first.

At least the zombies could chase them around a little more. I think they may of shot the budget on the premier. It sure doesn't look like they're in post apocalyptic surroundings anymore. They pretty much split the last two episodes between the same back alley and a trailer park.

You know its bad when you start liking the acting of the zombies more than the humans.

Whoever had this budget and advertising and support and came up with this tepid storyline, premise, actions, should be banished to daytime soaps and evaluating how Clarissa should screw Edward out of his life savings..

Yeah lets go back to Atlanta, the episode needs some more punch.. lets screw your husbands police partner and create some melodrama..
