About time Emminger sits for a bit. Hope Sauer plays fantastic so Torts won't have any reasons to put Emminger back in! Although, with Torts, you never know.
Gotta be honest, I'm a bit of a fan of Eminger. One of the few guys who actually hits and he does so with mean intentions. Rangers need that...
He has poor first pass vision, but he doesn't have completely garbage hands. Just keep working on the other facets of his game, and perhaps there is enough improvement.
Torts said Eminger is the 5th defensemen. Gilroy/Sauer are the 6th. I dont really care if Eminger plays instead of Gilroy. But I am glad Sauer is in tonight. He should be playing instead of Gilroy.
I'm not sure which Steve Eminger Torts is talking about but his constant stupid penalties and taking himself out of position to slam himself into the boards or take an interference penalty must really help.

I can buy Eminger being better than Gilroy but not Sauer. Good to see Sauer is in, Rangers really need to do a 2 for 1 trade of Eminger and Gilroy for a competent D-man.
Eminger being the 5th guy is a poor decision in my opinion. I haven't seen any of this mean streak that Torts and few people on here are referencing. He's pushed a few guys after the play, but who hasn't? He hasn't gotten one opposition player off their game even once. He hasn't laid out a huge hits with any consistency. Oh and he was on the ice for what, 3 game winning goals against in a row? He brings absolutely nothing to the table for me except porous defense.
Sauer is clearly the best of the 3, and then to me Gilroy has the edge over Eminger because he actually has a strength to his game on the offensive side of things. Honestly though, I could see Gilroy/Eminger going either way but Sauer should be the "fifth man."
It will be good to see Sauer tonight. Hopefully he can claim a more permanent spot on the roster. However, I'm not sure what he has to do at this point if Torts sees his play up until now and thinks that Eminger is better.

What GM would be dumb enough to trade for Eminger and Gilroy? Probably Sather, but that's it, and you can't trade for your own players.
I don't hate Eminger, but I thought he played his worst game playing on the left side. That is what worries me. Admitting 100% that I haven't watched the Whalepack this year, I can't see how Valentenko isn't a better option for 3rd pairing Left D. He hits like Eminger and has a cannon of a shot. I realize he is a rookie but still...
