He's got skill and he's experienced. Playing on Toronto's first line I think he could get around 65 points with about 20 goals.
MacArthur - Horcoff - Kessel

I don't think he's playing on the third line anymore and is definitely living up closer to his contract than he did last season.

But I would definitely swap Penner/ Komi even if it was one-on-one.

Another thing is he's probably unlikely to get traded, because he was named captain not too long ago.

Brule has been solid. I can see him taking Horcoff's spot in the future.
Does Horcoff have a NMC ?

That's quite a price. That would pretty much eliminate the Leafs from signing any good FA's in the near future

You're probably right but it's still to early to tell. The kid has skills and letting him grow with guys like Eberle, Hall and MSP might make him a better in the long run

But Horcoff and Kessel would both be around 65 points consistently. Also they're LW wouldn't be too far behind. I think its worth it, our goal : playoffs.

They all get about even ice time. Fourth line gets stapled the bench alot.

Horrible trade, Beauchemin has been nothing special since Neidermayer cleaned up after his mistakes, Aulie is a long shot to become an NHL regular, goaltending prospects rarely have value in a trade.

I would want Komisarek, remember how he played in Montreal? Yea that version of Komisarek.

This deal only makes sense if it's Splenda - none of that Aspertame or Sucrose crap.

The only thing Horcoff would do for Kessel is be defensively responsible for him. That's pretty much it.

That version was destroyed by one Milan Lucic.

Also, what's with people saying Gagner isn't a potential 1st liner in the future. Just because he has played a lot of NHL games already, doesn't mean the 21-year-old doesn't still have much to improve. For instance, he is only 13 months older than Tavares and less than a year older than Eberle.

Penner will never end up in Toronto as long as Burke is there. As and Oilers fan I dont want Komi or Beau. If we are going to trade Penner it is going to be for dmen that are not that old and over paid.

Komi is not worth 4.5 mil a season for four or five more seasons. It could eff up our cap situation because these players named Hall, Eberle, and Paajarvi will need new contracts. Not saying each will get 8 mil a cap hit, but if they are 30 - 40 goal scorers they get a fair sum of money.

You have some high hopes if your expecting all three of them to be 30-40 goal scorers.

Back to the thread thou, how about:

Beauch and Blacker for Penner?

For Penner to go to Toronto, Schenn would need to be coming to Edmonton. It's plain and simple as that. I'm not saying it's a fair trade-off or that players don't need to be added to one of the sides... but that's the only way it happens...

And Leafs fans are never giving up on Schenn of course...

But Leafs fans still write proposals which involve Penner and something Edmonton doesn't need.

On defense Edmonton needs either

A: First pairing offensive dman prospect
B: Young first or second pairing shutdown d-man.

Nothing less. We've got tons of that.

Penner + Gilbert

for

Phaneuf + Gunarrson

Is what it would take when the Leafs are ready to concede that Dion in T.O. is not working out.

since you guys think trading your captain not even a year after they were made it is a good idea..

why not:

Phaneuf (D for EDM) for Horcoff (Center for Kessel), problem solved...

Done. Though Horcoff has an NTC and actually may not waive it.

Phaneuf's a good player but Toronto made a mistake in giving him the "C", he doesn't need that much pressure put on him.

No deal. I don't want Phaneuf in Oilers gear, ever. A year from now, Phaneuf's contract will be considered one of the worst, if not the worst, and his attitude is garbage. Unless we can find another team to move him to instantly, I hope the Oilers don't do this deal
