Yeah, if there was ever another case for Alfie to personally mentor again, this is it. Maybe he and Zibanejad can move into che Alfie and both can learn from the best.

Not to mention Brendan Smith (who I would consider the favorite, if he gets enough minutes/powerplay time...which is not a given in our system). He should be playing in the top four right now IMO.

Anyways, Silfverberg looks good, will be interesting to see how well he adjusts to the NHL. Imagine that it will take Jarnkrok a year or too longer to get there, being a wing's prospect.

When was the last time a player came over from Sweden to play in the NHL and actually excel right away? Winning the Calder I'd consider excelling.

I know I'm curbing my enthusiasm after Runbladgate.

It just seems really hard to deal with cultureshock, NA hockey shock, NHL Skill and speed shock. You'd need to be a real special player.

Bring him over ASAP and hope he goes Karlson's learning curve.

Its true swedes seem to have a little longer development curve when coming over from the SEL. Eriksson, Sedins, Holmstrom, Hornqvist, Franzen, all seem to take some adjusting.

Off the top of my head Lidstrom, Forsberg, Zetterberg, Alfredsson, Karlsson are the only guys that came right in and produced substantially without a few years of adjustment.

And EK feeding you the puck.

Plus he will be like 20/21 and ready to go. It is a can't miss.

Not few actually:

Enstrom, Backstrom, Johansson, A.Larsson, Zetterberg, E.Karlsson, Berglund, Steen. Hedman also had a solid rookie season.

Rumors circulating saying he might join the Sens this season and play the final 9 games of the regular season and the playoffs.

Apparently Zibanejad was set to do so (which would have made his contract kick in), but his team entered a tournament of some kind.

Hopefully we get a glimpse of what this kid can do.

Zibanejad's team is playing to avoid relegation, two bottom teams from SEL and top four teams from SEL-2 (Allsvenskan).

I'm sorry, I didn't express myself clearly enough. I was trying to say Greening is a better fit in the top 6 than Condra or Klinkhammer with what we have, as sad as that is. He has proven chemistry and brings the physical presence Spezza and Milan (somewhat) lack. The only other player who has been tried on that line is Butler, and he failed at it.

Does Greening belong there on a contender? Probably not, but that second line LW has been a revolving door, and is more likely to be earned by Silf than the first line. I would bet money on it. Also I don't think Greening has even played with Turris and Alfie all year.

Anything less than 90 points next year is totally unacceptable.

Greening is a better fit then anyone not named michalek, turris, alfredsson and spezza. He actually plays well with Spezza and Michalek what they need to do is find someone to play with Turris and Alfie, id love to see if Silfverberg can make the transition. Nothing to lose no one else has worked, its too bad Regin is injured he would have been a nice fit.

Based on what? You've hardly even seen him play, let alone the rest of his competition.

I'd be stoked if he got 30-40 points next year, I can't see him doing much better then that for his first couple of years.

I agree Yakupov will be a hard to beat, even on his own. But we just don't know how good Silveberg is/can be especially with the potential to run with Spezza.

Ottawa's top 6 wingers are a joke IMO...only legit guys right now are 40 year old Alfie and Michalek who is healthy for the first time ever.
Enter Silfverberg, Zibanejad, Petersson, Stone & Noesen...still a joke?

Until they enter the league and grab one of those spots, ya it is. Hopefully someone takes charge and cements themselves soon

Where have u heard that? Must be fabricated because his team is still in the early stages of the playoffs and for him to actually come over and play on the Sens this year he would probably have to lose 3 straight games(including the game that is played right now where Brynäs leads 1-0 by Silfverberg) and he would availible from the 20th of march. I doubt it happens but if it did.. he would then have to travel over practice with the team and at the very earliest he would be ready for the Sens game the 26th more likely the 31st..

That would be the last 5-6 games of the season + playoffs if true

Probably stems from this. http://www.expressen.se/sport/hockey...er-slutspelet/

But I'll believe it when I see it. As the article says it's up to Marts aswell.
