there is no stopping silfverberg right now. How was this guy a 2nd rounder? He is lighting up SEL like a bonafide early 1st rounder.

his SEL team is 100 years old this year, and since he is the current captain he got the honors.

He's such a beast...I can't wait for this kid to suit up for the Sens next year. I think he will end this season leading the SEL in points.

Hopefully the transition isn't too hard for him next year. With his gritty style of play I am hoping he can come in right away and contribute in the top 6.

2 points in 3 games at the Oddset Hockey Games as an Alternate Captain for Team Sweden. He had a really sharp set of games after being injured for the other national team events so far this year.

What kind of company does he join by being a PPG in the SEL before coming over to the NHL?

Omark is the only one I've heard that doesn't shout star player. He's nothing like Omark though....Silfverberg's two-way game is arguably more impressive than his offensive upside in the NHL.

I think right now he's a good bet to be a 50 point player in that area...with a solid two-way play. A guy that's destined to be underrated. If he keeps improving, gets quicker...we can start talking about potentially a first line player.

The guy I like to compare him to is Jere Lehtinen before I compare him to scoring studs of the NHL.

List:
Forsberg (lit up SEL when he was 19-20).
Henrik Sedin (47 in 50 games at 19)
Backstrom (40 in 45 games at 19)
Markus Naslund ( 39 in 39 at 19)
Mats Naslund (way back in 1980 at 20)
Hakan Loob (back in 1981 at 21 years old)
Kent Nilsson (in 1975)

Honestly there's probably a couple more....but it's rare. In Sweden it either seems like a you're a superstar and you score very well as a 19-20 year old, or you have to wait and earn your stripes and there's a good chance you get to the NHL before you can score highly in that league.

Sedins, Huselius, Harju, Omark, Rundblad, Zetterberg.

Guys like Kent Nilsson, Håkan Loob and Peter Forsberg were in class of their own.

Maybee. But if Modo makes the playoffs i don't see Nicklas Danielsson not winning it(hopefully he is replacing Silfverberg next season).

Recent youngish ones that I can think of are Omark, Linus Klasen and Mats Zuccarello although Omark played in Russia a season before he moved to NA. These players are tiny though so they can´t really be compared to Silfverberg. He is also a much more complete player than any of those 3.

Thanks for the responses. Certainly an interesting list of players. From Forsberg, Naslund, Zetterberg and the Sedins to Omark and Harju.

To be exact, the Sedins, Harju, Rundblad and Zetterberg were not PPG players (But very close). The Sedins were also 2 years younger. Harju is really not a PPG-quality player but he had great chemistry with Omark that season, he has even been benched a game this season and has been far from PPG.

I stand by my prediction, something close to Louis Eriksson. I'll be very happy with that.

He's the Sens best forward prospect and has been since we drafted him. Love his game and potential...
