we looked like a team willing to pay the price to block shots and "survive" out there till we can get our goal.

we looked like a team with the best goalie in the NHL between the pipes.

we looked like a team missing Gaborik, Callahan, Prospal, Drury, and for all intents and purposes, Frolov since he has been MIA.

oh, and we looked like a team that won.

This is pretty spot on. The win wasn't pretty but considering 1) we're missing Gaborik, Cally, Prospal, and Drury, 2) we just had a tough game the night before against Philly, we still managed to win. Lundy bailed us out but that's why he's the best in the game.

Just looking at our schedule. In 2 weeks, we have 5 games in 7 nights?!?!? WTF? Who's the bonehead that makes the schedule? Then the week after it's 4 in 7 nights?? 9 games in 14 days? Wow. Epic fail on someone's part. That's going to be a rough stretch. I'll be happy if we come out of it .500.

Really liked what Grachev's done with his limited ice-time so far. There was a solo rush, what, two/three minutes into the second period where he came out from behind his own net, chipped the puck ahead and beat two D-men to it behind Hedberg. One of those "yeah, I like that" moments.

Hopefully he gets more minutes and/or better linemates at some point.

Was at the game last night, have not run through this thread.

It was fun gane to watch. Incredulous faces on most dev fans by late in the 2nd.

You could see we were missing Cally in a big way. A big plus that we managed to win without him.

The rock was not as crowded as usual for a Ranger game.

Hank came up big.

My little guy skated between 1st & 2nd periods.

Her response? "But do we really need another fighter on this team?"

I almost peed myself with laughter....

Semin won that. How do you think Staal feels?

The Devils are digging a really deep hole here @ 4-10-1

If they go 35-25-5 from here on out, they'll finish @ 39-35-6 / 84 points. Not enough, IMHO.

That is definitely not going to be enough. They would really need to get hot to just squeak into the playoffs. I'd say if they lose 5 more in their next 8-10 games they are done for this season.

Loving the identity the team is making.

And even though they're depleted, it still feels GREAT beating and shutting out the Devils.

Go watch videos of Tortorella's stanley cup run....the game that Lightning team played is exactly the game we're beginning to play. In your face hard working fore-check, puck retrieval, cycle, agressive D hockey. A lot of board play...cycles etc.

But...he's an idiot who has no system and no idea how to run a team, right?

Definitely not enough. Habs finished 8th last year with 88 points (Philly was 7th and had 88 as well) - lowest points total since lockout for a playoff team. They need to get around 90 to give themselves a chance. Next 2-3 weeks will tell us where they are.

I don't care if the team is beginning to play a "system". His system is flawed. We don't have the right players. It won't work. Even if they are beginning to play a "system", it won't last. This is the New York Rangers. You've probably been a fan for several years or more. You know how it goes here.

Tortorella is still baffling with some of his moves of rosters, call ups, etc. Sometimes he makes absolutely no sense at all.

They theoretically have the personnel to do better than that, but Parise being out hurts a lot.

Hopefully they put together a hot run at the end of the season but finish 9th (no great draft pick and no playoffs)

Theres always gonna be some sceptics

But so far i think this team has shown something that Rangers teams of the past have been lacking. And thats four lines that give it there all.

Only time will tell, and as rangers fan we shouldn't get to ahead of ourselves but so far, ive certainly liked what ive seen game in game out....even in most of the losses.
