Buffalo is in a serious win drought, losing their fifth straight game against Montreal making their record 3-9-2 and potentially without Miller, the Leafs should be able to win this one without losing control.
This is what worries me, they have to win sometime. They should come out firing tonight.
Why is he going with the top line of versteeg-bozak-kessel? Really, this line has NOT clicked at all this season, why continue to force the issue, I thought Wilson want size on the top line, why the f_ck is Versteeg. a 5'10 midget on the top line opposed to players like Kulemin or Bozak who are 6'2.
Secondly why in the world is he scrubbing in Mitchell on the 3rd line, doesnt this knobhead know that Mitchell is a poor excuse for an NHL'er?
Thirdly Hanson is a centre, why is he a winger on the 4th line
Maybe it's because Versteeg scored when he was put on that line last night, maybe it's because he doesn't want to split up the Kule-Grabo-Mac line, it's really not that hard to figure out.
tonights game a must win?Just wanted to get your feelings on Tonights (technically tonights anyway) game and if you think it is a must win? yes the Leafs have been in a rough patch but the past 2 games they seem to be tuening a corner, coming back against the sens from 3-0 down to make it 3-2 and then coming back against the caps from 3-1 down in the 3rd to gain a point Both those games had to instill a ittle bit of confidence in the Leafs espicaly the caps game.getting a point against the caps is big espicaly when down going into the 3rd.
so now does that make the game against the Sabres a must win? keep in mind they don't have Miller for the game, Stafford left the game so the Sabres SHOUD be ripe for the picking considering superman is not in net for them.
The way I see this game it can go 2 ways, a win and the and eafs begin to buid some momentum coming off a point against the caps and a win against a team they don't usually beat in Buffallo, this ead to a fairly lengthy winning streak which wil have Leaf Nation panning the parade again.
A lloss and the little bit of confidence that this team currenty has from the previous 2 games could be COMPETELY shot espicaly considering the Sabres are in last in the east (athough it may be the devis again)
I don't usually believe in must win games in November but this one may be one.
so is this game a must win?
Calling a game in early November a "must win" is a little over-stated...its game 12 of the season....must-win? Hardly......"should-win" is probably more accurate.
All games should be treated as must wins. Thinking a team is easy for any reason is just silly. The Leafs are gonna need every single pt they can accumulate over the 82 game season to even be in the hunt for a playoff spot.
Hasn't this question been asked every game for the past 2 weeks? It's not a must-win, it's an important game where a win could help get this team on the right track. You don't have "must win" games until much later on in the season.
I think the Leafs are going to mop the floor with the Sabres. You guys act like the Sabres are just due to snap out of their drought but what about the Leafs? They've lost 7 of their last 8, and after playing pathetic hockey for the past two weeks they finally woke up against Washington, almost making an epic comeback win before Brett Lebda took another bad penalty. There are three highlights from the last game that make me feel like the Leafs will finally break out of their slump and start playing decent hockey. Not spectacular hockey, like in their 4-0 start, or terrible hockey, losing 7 of their last 8, but just decent hockey.
#1: Boudreau was trying to keep Ovechkin away from Schenn all game long. That warms my heart. It's nice to have a shutdown defenseman playing so well.
#2: Versteeg finally scores a goal! How many times has he been an a semi breakaway and flubbed a shot?
#3: Tim Brent showing a lot of heart blocking a shot in overtime on the penalty kill... Once again, warming my heart.
