Why do so many PPL have a hard time understanding that there is a surplus of goalie prospects out there these days and that unproven goalies have very low value?

From a different Canucks fan, I say no way.
Clarkson is having a pretty bad start to the season.

15 GP, 1 goal, 1 assist, -9

Dude, what? You would have to add significantly more to Schneider just to get Ladd.

Andrew Ladd is currently tied for team scoring lead in Atlanta. The Thrashers ADDING to Ladd to trade for Schneider is the dumbest thing I've seen on these boards in a while.

What about keeping Schneider and dealing Luongo for an established power forward (plus a goalie), NTC's notwithstanding, instead?

Good trading partners next years draft are Chicago, New Jersey, Dallas or the NYI's.
Not in a million years.. No way we'd give Chicago what could be an elite starting goal tender.. I'd prefer to trade Schneider out east so he doesn't come back to bite us in the ass later.

Politics won't allow this to happen. We have Lu locked up for 11 more years after this one. Not only does that lengthy contract decrease his trade value, but he also has a NTC that Gillis will NOT ask him to waive. Only way Luongo leaves is if he requests it, and I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Really? I think the Canucks would gladly take that... I'm surprised Comeau is on the table.

This proposal only works if the Coyotes feel Bryzgalov won't sign a long term deal. All indications are, once the ownership thing is settled, Bryz is the organization's TOP PRIORITY and will be paid as such. Don Maloney said as much in an interview awhile back.

At the 2011 Draft ....

To Phoenix

- Schneider
- Bieksa (thrown in for salary cap purposes)

To Vancouver

- Upshall (if they felt they could re-sign him)
- Schlemko

Nuck-fans are delusional if they think Schneider would get them a top-6 player. He may become a good goalie, but unproven goalies have no trade-value no matter how potential they are. Even Halak, who was the best goalie in the world for the first half of 2010, didn't get the Habs a top-six forward.

Wow, this is a very simplistic summation of the situation.

1. Markets are never stagnant, they fluctuate year to year, month to month. To say the market on July 1 2011 will be the same as it was on July 1 2010 would be ignorant.

2. The value is in Schneider's contract. If he keeps up this level of play, he is a potential number 1 goalie signed for a very cheap amount next season. This is something critically different than the Halak situation. Any team that wanted to take on Halak would have had to negotiate with him after his break out season. This will not be the case for Schneider, if his pace of play continues.

Upshall would do really well in Van. Shouldn't they see what Luongo could fetch first? Isn't Schneider supposed to be the next big thing? I also agree letting Schneider maybe finish out a full season before trading.
