What would PK Subban have to do to get his number retired?

I know pretty early in the career to ask this but simple question,

I was reminded of a thread about Markov from a few years ago, where the OP (and general consensus) was of the opinion that Markov's number would be honored but not retired. Simply because he doesn't have any norrises', Harts, or stanley cups.

So what does Subban have to do over the course of his career to have his number retired?

I'd say at least one cup,
Captain the team at some point
at least 2 norrises
possibly Conn Smythe
All-Star team 6+ times

Am I forgetting anything?

Really begins and ends with a Stanley Cup win. He would have to be part of that at least once.

He have to be a Hall of Famer.
We have more than 40 players to the Hall of Fame and less than half of them have their jersey retired

Subban is good but come on...

Nothing to do with that, simply asking the question of what'd it take

A surefire recipe to get your jersey retired as a Hab:
1-Hall of Fame.
2-Win Cups.
3-Being an iconic figure during an era.

He needs to retire early, come back to the NHL four years later and play for the Rangers. Then dump them and go and play for the restored Nordiques.

That should do it.

He would need 9 or more seasons of 65 points, and 3 seasons of 15+ points in the playoffs IMO. If he, let's say, played 800 games here and got 650 points, I'd say he gets his jersey retired 10 or 15 years from the day he retires

George Laraque stands a better chance of having his jersey retired at this point . In all seriousness though I think its way to early to even pretend. He needs a lot of seasoning before we can be sure he even stays with the team long enough to get the remotest of considerations for this. And with an attitude like he's got and the Salary cap to boot I say we are lucky if Gautier keeps him for 4 years. That'll all change if he's instrumental in winning a cup though.

I can't believe this thread. I know people have the right to ask any question but still. How about this as a question. how long before Subban gets married, has a kid, a boy, raises him up to be better then his dad at hockey, gets drafted by the habs and becomes the Habs all-time best left winger with a 75 goal season.

Maybe If he wasn't behind the Nordiques bench for as long as he was maybe his jersey would have been honored by now ..... *** traitor .... F-Him!

Grow up, I was asking in generalities, It could have been Yannick Weber for all I care I was just curious what would lead to a players number being retired

I don't think a Cup can be part of the criteria anymore. It's just too difficult to win one, and not really part of the measuring stick for individual accomplishment.
