Yea I totally agree, have tonnes of respect for the franchise, my beef is most certainly with the fans.

quick question: where do you live. If its Detroit then I would assume you get the Toronto game (Ontario minus Ottawa)

Not sure I understand the deal with feed...

Does it have anything to with the possibility of me watching the game in HD?

i've been confused about this all day.

nhl.com doesnt list cbchd
cbc.ca schedule is ambiguously worded (HD where available)
checked up on an hd forum, and apparently CBC is still only operating one eastern HD truck. In canada, there are only currently 4 HD Cbc stations (Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver). Everywhere else, it's just digital sd shown in widescreen.

because the majority of ontario gets the toronto HD feed anyways, and the main CBC HD distribution hub for cable and satellite networks is in toronto, it seems more convenient for CBC to just leave the truck there unless the leafs are not playing.

Bottom line is that the game should still be available on your local 'cbc hd' station in montreal, ottawa, and vancouver, but it will really be widescreen SD. In any other markets, you will be getting the game 4:3 SD.

generally, if you're in a market outside the big 4 and you see an HD CBC channel on your tv, it's the one from the nearest market, but depending on your provider, it might just default to CBCHD toronto.

and that is what i learnt about cbc hd today.

If you live in Ottawa, do you get an HD or SD feed? I would love to watch it in HD, but CBCHD is showing the damn Toronto game.

it depends.

i cancelled my cable a few weeks ago, but apparently on cbc montreal ota i will be getting sd widescreen. I'd assume it's the same if you get cbchd-ott.

if you watch the local news on your hd channel, do you get ottawa news or toronto news?

Like danishh said, it will only be HD on CBCHD which means only the Toronto game will be HD. CBC-Ott and CBC-Mtl will be showing the game in SD.
