Schenn, Simmonds, Hickey and a draft pick that will likely be in the later stages of the first round for a franchise center who is still only 26 and already has a Stanley Cup ring? I'm sorry, but I don't buy it. Staal is the Hurricanes.

If they're in dire straits, you'd see a lot more parts being moved. The Canes also have a ton of cash coming off of their books at the end of this season. Again, makes zero sense.

If thats all it took I'd hope we would have sent it a while back. Thats making out like a bandit gaining a top 20 talent without giving up a single 2nd pairing/top six forward as of now. With Staal we don't need Schenn and Simmonds is my favorite player but can be replaced.

It's definitely Drew, he has been bringing lots of doughnuts to practice and getting the other players hooked on them!

Shellz is the problem.

She's proving to be a distraction to the married Quick and Hextall wants her out before it hurts Quick's game. The fact that Quick was 10-1 a few games ago but is 1-2 in his last 3 is very telling.

That looks good, but I might also try Staal at LW on Kopi's line, since he is more of a shooter and might flourish there, as well.

Also, I would do that deal yesterday.

Especially ones with fame and money. If you think Simmonds goes partying all by himself and Doughty, Johnson, Bernier, Clifford, Parse, Westgarth, etc etc all stay home and play video games you're the most nieve person I've ever met. And you know what? Up here in KEL - F'in - OWNA, I witnessed Bernier getting ****faced here this summer with Duncan Keith. And I see about 20 other young NHL players getting stumbling drunk here every summer. So like I said, if you think Simmonds is the only one on the team that parties, you are SADLY mistaken. Use your head.

If the Kings locker room was full of milk drinking, suit wearing, church attending hockey players I'd be deeply concerned. Let the kids play!

Ur point seems to be that all drinking and partying is the same, regardless of time of the year, frequency and severity.

That's pretty naive.

Let's be serious. If Staal was getting offered right now to the Kings, it would be done. They would give up Simmonds/Hickey/1st/Stoll in a second. That would give us Kopitar/Staal/Schenn/Lokitonov down the middle for the next 7+ years and cementing our team as one of the best teams in the league for a long time.

That won't happen. Carolina wouldn't trade their heart and soul. Especially since they don't look bad and could make the playoffs. It would be a gigantic 'screw you' to their fans. He is also probably going to be their only player (maybe Cam Ward, too) at the All-Star Game in their house, so it would be stupid to trade him.

The only way we're getting anyone substantial in the next, I dunno, two weeks is going to be from the Oilers. They're getting beaten down huge by teams. They do not expect to make the playoffs They have shown that they're in 100% rebuild and would love to have some good d-prospects along with maybe Larsson at the end of the year. We could probably get Penner if we offered up a package of our d-man that aren't named Doughty/Johnson/Forbort/Mitchell/Greene/Scuderi.

But in all likelyhood, there will be no trades for a few months, and we will have a revolving door of left wingers, or maybe Murray will just leave Dwight King on the first line till he scores a goal in 2014.

Wish we could keep Simmonds but yeah 2 seconds.

If the deal is over Staal ($8 milllion+ over the next several years), then the "big" player going back would have to be someone whom the Kings will not wish to pay a similar amount to over a similar time-frame (call it $5 - $7 million+ over the next 6 years). How many "elite" defensemen can a franchise afford, anyway? Bye bye, JJ.

Nah, you gotta put Staal with Stoll, just to listen to Bob & Jim squirm!

People are going to think this is crazy, but it may indeed be Doughnuts.

Putting the pieces together:

A. Hextall wants him gone (Hexy is likely to take over for Lombardi some day)

B. Hextall was a work out fiend, is Doughty?

C. It's a dilemma for Dean. Dean has praised Doughty and now is faced with an Assistant GM that tells him the kid doesn't have what it takes. Dean respects the hell out of Hextall's opinion on these matters.

D. Everyone expected Lombardi to sign Doughty to a long term deal to lock him up, but now there is talk of a short term contract. This is a problem for Dean. His prize defenseman taken #2 overall isn't worth a 5-8 year deal?

E. Doughty is FAT.

Pure speculation on my part, but I think this is the one guy Dean would lose sleep over more than anyone else. Could be Bernier though as well, but with Quick playing lights out is that as big a concern?

I don't think any of Barry's trade rumors have ever come true as actual trades. I'm not saying there couldn't be any truth to this but I'm not get my hopes up.

It doesn't take a genius or "inside information" to figure out there is a potential for a trade between us and Boston though. They have an abundance of forwards and will need to clear some cap space, the Kings need a top 6 forward and could take on any contract without sending salary back.
