Wouldn't that make your jersey more valuable?

I bought an Ovechkin Mcfarlane figure (when he wore the A) and the day he gained captaincy I said "well that makes my figure more special now."

Just call him Ilari. His REAL first name. When teammates anglicize their names it just sounds so fake and inauthentic to me.

Yeah but if you are going to take young guys and never give them a chance when they are doing just as well as a guy who has been here half a season, its no wonder guys like HTD and Ryno went back.

Detroit is always loyal and have a reputation that makes them one of the best organizations and if you were to call iflip up it would be dumb over a guy like Mursak.

I'm hoping the call-up thing never becomes an issue because the only way someone's getting called up is if we have multiple injuries. After last season, I'd like to see us be relatively healthy for a change.

Ryno was awful and didn't want to put the work in. That's why he left, and I'm glad he is gone.

Couldn't stand that guy.

True but if he did wanted to put in the work he could have been one hell of a player.

Ryno and Axelsson went back to Sweden because of issues that nothing to do with anyone or anything other than themselves.

He's not even in the SEL. He's like one or two leagues below, haha.

So does Ilari have to pass through waivers after his contract is over?

Neither. Thought he was still in the SEL
He really sunk then as a player.

I think it's more like Abdelkader takes Modano's spot and if he's capable, maybe promote Emmerton to the NHL. Mursak is pretty much a lock to make it next year. I wish we hadn't signed Homer for two years, we might regret that. Because of that contract we might have to let a prospect walk for free.

Draper is definitely gone next year. So Mursak will take his roster spot. Modano won't come back, I'm sure, so either Emmerton or I. Filppula takes that spot. If Miller isn't re-signed we might promote another prospect or go through FA.

Thats nice and all, but when people butcher your first name in its native language, a nickname is often times the way to go. God knows when I lived in Argentina, I didn't want anyone calling me my real name when it was paired with a Porteno accent.

imo, abdelkader is better at W than C and should not play C.

C is a small problem unless zetterberg returns to C.

zetterberg - datsyuk - holmstrom
franzen - filppula - bertuzzi
hudler - abdelkader?? - cleary
eaves - helm - mursak/miller

franzen - datsyuk - holmstrom
cleary - zetterberg - bertuzzi
hudler - filppula - abdelkader
eaves - helm - mursak/miller

but those lines are not as good as this season, imo. and holmstrom may be even more ineffective next season.

I believe he is too old for an entry type contract and must pass through waivers if called up and sent down (like Janik) unless there are exemptions for injury call up or no# of games.

Yes their was. That was the year Helm was also supposed to be with the Wings but was sent down and Abdelkader was NHL ready too.

Detroit has really never been loyal to prospects. They leave them in the minors far to long and they rarely get called up. Half of the prospects who make the Wings don't get proper playing time which stunts their development (Kopecky? Meech?) or lost to waivers/trade (Leino? Quincey?)

The only prospects who get a fair shot in Detroit are the prospects who force the Wings to give them a chance.

Abby is a good C. Abby is playing well at the Wing right now but he can play just as well at center.

i think Emmerton will get a long look for the 4th center role. IIRC, he'll have to go through waiver next season, and Babcock raved about his defencive abilities. And he is putting up some numbers in the AHL for a change.

the problem is, the 4th line currently is made of guys with speed who forecheck, backcheck and put lots of pressure on the opposition at times. They can sometimes keep the puck for long periods of time and tire out the opponent's players. Homer would be useless on that line. He just can't seem to keep the puck, make plays, etc. All he can do is get the puck, pass it towards a player and plant his ass in front of the net. We're stuck with Homer on the 1st line. I say put him on for the PP, and rotate Cleary, Bert and Franzen at ES with Datsyuk and Zetterberg.
