Doan Out - "Extensive Period of Time"

Quote:
The Phoenix Coyotes will be without the services of Shane Doan for an extended period, after the team captain suffered a lower-body injury in a collision with Dallas defenceman Nicklas Grossman in the final minutes of a 6-3 loss to the Stars on Friday.

Team officials say Doan's status will be evaluated ''week-to-week.''

Couldnt be as bad as Upshall's knee injury especially since his excat injury was announced right after it happened and he was out for the whole season.

Still we pulled though last season with the injuries to Jovo and Z especially with Jovo's bone head suspensions. If everything is coming together now overtime then we should be fine without Doan.

I wouldnt be surprised if this becomes the time for Tippett to explore around with the C and maybe tempeted to stip Doan of the C(which I dont want really) if its going to improve chemistry and Doan can be a better player in his remaining years without. It happened to Marleau!

You have an interesting thought process, I'll give you that. Doan is not going to get stripped of the 'C'.

I would be crushed if he was. I really don't see it happening, not after all he's done for this franchise.

Tippett could choose to put a third "A" on the ice in place of a captain depending how long Doan is out. Don't they alternate the "A" between home and the road as it is?

So where does Doan fit in when he comes back? Seems like some of the lines have really gelled since he's been out.

With Turris, provided Turris isn't out very long.

When Doaner is back, I think they should really figure out what they're doing with Prucha.

As someone said earlier in another thread, I wouldn't mind Turris moving to the wing with Ebbett being brought up.

Surely someone might roll the dice on Prucha if he's made available through waivers I would hope.

Turris is this organization's only real prospect at the C position. We're going to depend on him becoming a strong centerman so he might as well learn to excel at it now.

Many a fine center has started on the wing until they got their sea legs, I believe.

I am far from giving up on Turris at center, but one of the reasons he hasn't gotten more ice time is because he simply hasn't outplayed any of the other centers on this team. Maybe trying him on the wing isn't such a bad idea. It could help cover up some of his defensive weaknesses, and if it will make him more productive in the end, so be it.

Whats the record with Doan out? Are we 5-0 with him hurt?

I think we're 5-0-2 without him.

I wouldn't read too much into it. His place has been taken either by Bissonnette or Prucha, depending on the opponent--neither of them have proven to be relevant, much less game-changing. Plus, Tippett won't break up a productive line until the hot streak has run its course.

The Jokinen suspension was also talked about in the Flames GDT before you made your thread about it.

If you dont go to his azvibe that he smothers all the other threads with, he seems to think you wouldt know any news.....

Anyway, Doan is going to want to come out and show he can play, and play like he can. As for where he is going to fill in, i do not know.

6-0-4 if you count the 3 games he was suspended. We didn't have Hanzal for those games though.

If he was playing injured before he was injured, I hope he doesn't come back until he's 100% because injured Doan sucks 10X worse than injured Whitney. I'd like to see him come back and take Pyatt's spot, let Doan show him how to play with some passion and physicality.

Forgot about the suspensions, thanks. I too would like to see Doan replace Pyatt and I would also like to see Prucha get some more ice time for a little bit. A Doan-Turris-Prucha line looks good to me.

We know from years 1996-2006 that Doan can play with any line mates and be productive. Not worried where he slots in.
