Boyd on waivers

I'd put the call in to pick him up. Whats the risk?

I really like Boyd but do we really need any more second or third line forwards? Although if we could move Kotalik somehow, I'd be thrilled to bring Boyd back.

I'm not 100% on this but I think the Flames would have to keep him up in the NHL if they claim him? Otherwise Montreal would just claim him again if the Flames tried sending him down.

I wouldn't want him back, maybe there's no risk, but there is no need for him in this organization right now.

Bruin put McGratton on waivers as well.

Boyd would be a good pick up for any team looking for depth and a top 6 fill in. Too soft for the top 6 long term but he could be good for spot duty. We don't need him as it stands.

Conroy >>> Boyd

Glenner/Moss/Jackman/Sutter >>> Boyd

Just no room for him.

That 4th round pick suddenly looks a lot better now, huh?

I would not pick up Boyd because he's really just not an NHL player... yet.

He STILL NEEDS development.. and not really NHL experience per se... more like he needs a couple AHL seasons and physical growth (bulk the hell up). Because seriously, my leaf blower could put him in IR.

To give up an NHL'er for that is difficult for any NHL club to contemplate.

Didn't he score the Habs first goal this season? What happened? I thought for sure he was gonna tear it up this year.

He was rushed is what happened. Why Boyd didn't spend a year or two in the AHL is still a mystery to me.

That said, I'd rather have Boyd than that useless P.O.S. Ivanans on the bench.

I liked Boyd when he was here, and I thought he wasn't given a fair shake either so I was mad that we traded yet another "young" player that we drafted. That said, there is no room for him on the Flames, he would playing on the 4th line and the players that we already have there are better suited for that role. Boyd is meant to be a top 6 player and he currently is not good enough to fufill that role on 90% of teams in the NHL. Too bad, I think him and Backlund would of made good linemates and they did have some success early on playing together last season.

Even if we could pick boyd up, we can't. Aren't we at the max contract limit with 50? I say leave him!

Wonder if some people will still try to justify Calgary passing on Travis Zajac in the '04 draft to trade down and pick his Salmon Arm linemate Kris Chucko and add Boyd and Prust in the 3rd round.

I love it....whenever a player gets put on waivers, every team board on HFBoards gets a thread about it, with most of the airchair GM's saying they should pick the player up. And then the player clears.

He certainly doesn't risk our pursuit of Couturier

Why don't we pick him up? Because he's a useless NHL player who isn't good enough to be a top-6 guy and isn't strong enough or tenacious enough to be a bottom six guy.

Yeah... In Sutter we trust... Never mind Mike Green, we had a shot at a good number 1 centre, but lord knows the team hasn't been trying to fill that role for 12 years... Jesu Christo

Do people honestly think Boyd would help our team?
Hes not a good bottom 6 player right now and hes not a top 6 player.

Perhaps if he gains some more strength then maybe he would be useful, but as of right now, I dont see him as being an upgrade.

Kronwall's contract really has us in a tight space. Sutter should have insisted that he either played in North America or had his contract voided. I still think that Kronwall would have made/will make a good #7 D.
