Thanks man, I appreciate it. The fact that it was in a gift exchange worries me now that I know it was real! I won't post the spending limit we had to abide by!
Speaking of this jersey, does anyone have a new, smaller size they'd like to trade me with? This XL is waaaaay too big for me, and I would much prefer an adult large at the most.
You clearly miss the point, then. Trespassing, and physical theft, are obvious crimes. File sharing, and counterfeit jerseys, hence the quotation marks around "theft", fall into a much grayer area where there is no evident monetary loss, as nothing of actual physical value is being stolen.
No I completely understand the point. And there is monetary loss with things like file sharing and counterfeit jerseys because the company that designs/makes/whatever it sees no profit from it. Would you expect artists to keep releasing CDs for 0 profit? They don't "lose" anything, but they don't make the money that they otherwise should. So yes, it ALL is theft.

No, you're assuming that without the option to get a counterfeit jersey, or downloading a torrent, that the person would automatically buy the legit item at the full price demanded by the seller. And that's been proven to be entirely false.

Someone paying a sob who counterfeits takes money from the person or business who owns the rights to it. It is still stealing, no matter how you spin it. You can try to justify it all you like, but you lining someone else's pockets for a knockoff is still theft, whether you would buy it regularly or not is not the issue.

Sure it is. The Oilers, retailer, distributor, league, and whoever else taking a piece of that bloated pie, wasn't ever going to see a penny from someone with $25 to spend on a jersey.
I don't have to try to justify it. The market speaks for itself. The more you overprice your goods, the more likely it is that people will find an alternative.
Paying 10% of retail for a counterfeit? Hell yeah.

Not to mention the fact that the person with $25 that those you listed will never see is in fact giving free advertising to the team.
i just bought my toews and my weber jersey online for cheap, and know what, it doesn;t bother me at all. for jerseys that i am going to be skating in, and playing hockey in i much prefer these than paying 200 dollars for a jersey
I found a website that is saying it is selling 100% authentic jerseys, I was looking to get Nugent Hopkins. The place is called Jerseys official, but when I phone the number it says the person I was looking to reach is unavailable, please leave a msg or some such crap. Anyone ordered from here? Here is the link to the site:

I saw them advertised on facebook, for 129.00 bucks, with free shipping, it has me very skeptical.
RNH never wore a jersey with the "RBK" hockey logo on the back of the neck/shoulders. This year (his first year obviously) all teams' jerseys have "Reebok" (spelled out) on the back of the jersey. Might be a giveaway that it's not 100% official.

Yup, now that you mention it, its definitely an older knockoff, perhaps not even close to authentic. I definitely won't be touching this one.
