Blogger lands scouting job

For those of you who read and follow Mathias Brunet's blog on cyberpresse, this story will most likely interest you. In a nutshell, a guy posting on MB's blog landed a scouting job because the guy made good prospect analsys and predictions. Good stuff.

I wish for him, but I dont think so. Anyway, it appears that the guy has behavior problems with some people on the panelso I dont predict a big career... and for the article of Mattias, wow Snake70 predicted that Skinner is a top 10 when everybody think he's a 2nd rounder.... Common Mattias just shut your mouth and watch your blackberry.

indeed, I also predicted Skinner would be a great player, when do I get a job

and another wow at predicting Windsor would win the Memorial Cup and swearing by Matt Duchene

congrats to Snake but I can't say I'm impressed by the examples given by Brunet in this article.

OMFG!! A Fan's dream come true.

After Spector who started amateur part time hobby rumour/press review at 5AM and got offered a position by ESPN...

Now we see "Snake70"... a guy who chatted a lot on Mathias Brunet's talkback... The guy doesn't even have a website or anything... But he got the eye and the big mouth and finally got hired by "a team"...

here is the story by MB (in french obv)

That made me laugh also. Everybody on HF knew Skinner would get a crack at the first round and has the season progressed we all felt he was a special player.

If you are implying that predicting a top 10 selection for Skinner in september-october last year was common you are mistaken. He was known no doubt, but not many had him in their top 10 a full year before the draft. And FYI I had always disliked Snake70 on Brunet's blog because he was arrogant and full of himself in many of his posts.

How can anyone who isn't paid a salary by a team or the media find the time and resources to follow amateur and minor league hockey and serve as an unpaid scout and write a blog? Like most fans I have a limited knowledge of the nonroster players already in the Hab organisation How did this guy manage it?

Grats if it was him, it would be pretty cool if some dude we know on HF who doesn't even have a site got picked up as a scout lmao.

You guys really think it's him? He makes some pretty solid posts at times for sure.

Not sure it's Whitesnake. Last time I saw him he looked more like a 30yo guy than a 50yo man to me.

Unless he really is 50 and looks a lot more younger, then it's not him.

Passion.

And I believe he is (was?) a self-employed/freelance translator.

Whitesnake is not 50 indeed. Don't think it's him.

Good for this guy, I actually had a conversation with WS a couple months ago about trying to figure out how to get such a job.

It's a pretty feel good story. I'm happy for the man, because he's living his dream. Good for him.

And good for Mathias to bring it to the forefront. Now, his blog will be swarmed by would-be scouts!

I hope that after all this he does not end up with a divorce as a result of living in hotel rooms. Be careful what you wish for... Personally, as much as I like hockey, it's not a job that I would do. I might take a job in the head office (I could reduce the incidence of concussions and serious shoulder injuries by tweaking the boards and mandatory equipment... but that's not a league priority.), but short of that, no thanks.

Not me. Don't think I'm that arrogant though some people in here might see it differently....

Lately, I did want and predict the signings of Andreas Engqvist and Philippe Lefebvre....so I'm expecting a call any minute now...

Thanks Seb and Kriss for not thinking I'm 50.....Kinda of a relief for me....going strong on 40 though.
