unless there's a lopsided deal in favour of the Canucks, no way they touch any deal with the Hawks. And Alberts isn't also the type of player you send to a conference rival, watching him lay out your skill players in the playoffs.

Alberts has been very solid for the Canucks.... he's really only had one bad game all season (Montreal), and has otherwise played strong in his own end and has been the team's most physical defender.

The reason why Ballard isn't in the lineup has to be a health issue right now... the game prior to Hamhuis' return, Ballard was outplayed by both Alberts and Rome - Rome having a very strong start to the season as well. But the Montreal game saw both Rome and Alberts (along with others) struggle... if there was a reason to put Ballard back into the lineup, it would have been after that game, but they didn't.

That tells me that Ballard is still recovering from his injuries and/or simply isn't in game shape from a missed off-season due to injury. I fully expect him back as a regular soon enough, but as long as Rome and Alberts are playing at the level they are, there's no need to rush him in.

BTW Canucks fans, I see Ballard has been scratched twice this season instead of Rome, any reason why?
They are trying to keep the NW Division race as close as possible.
