Longest Current Ironman Streaks

I think we should maintain an ironman streak leaderboard and maintain it as players streaks are broken. The hard part is determining when was the last time every player missed a game, in order to start the list. Anyone interested in throwing out some names and some dates?

I know Daniel Girardi has a REALLY long streak:

I think it's 296.

Bouwmeester's streak is at 438 now. The streak started at March 6th 2004. Last game missed was on March 3rd against the Devils.

Iginla's got a pretty good streak going too. He's currently at 291 and it started February 2nd 2007.

Those are the only Flames worth mentioning.

Three more from the Northwest.

Henrik Sedin 432 games - Streak started 2004-03-21
Tom Gilbert 268 (of 272) - Streak started 2007-03-23.
Andrew Cogliano 260 games - Never missed a game.

Now somebody else can do the other divisions.

Bouwmeester and H. Sedin are the only two who haven't missed a game since the lockout.

Western Conference
Jay Bouwmeester 438 - 2004-03-06
Henrik Sedin 432 - 2004-03-21

Jarome Iginla 291 - 2007-02-02
Brad Boyes 278 - 2007-03-01
Anze Kopitar 269 - 2007-03-21
Tom Gilbert 268 - 2007-03-23
Andrew Cogliano 260 - 2007-10-04
Loui Eriksson 229 - 2007-12-10
Dany Heatley 206 - 2008-02-07

Jay McClement 194 - 2008-03-05
R.J. Umberger 181 - 2008-04-02

All dates are in yyyy-mm-dd. Feel free to doublecheck if you want to, because I mostly looked for bigger gaps in the game logs at Hockey Reference. So some number might be off, I'm not sure.

Rangers:

Dan Girardi- 296 starting 06-07
Marc Staal- 180 starting 08-09 season (he played 80 games in 07-08 but I can't remember why he missed two games that year, his rookie year, so # might be higher than 180)
Artem Anisimov- 99 starting 08-09 season (hasn't missed a game in career)

Tobias Enström has played every game since he entered the league, so 262 for him.

Marty St. Louis is at 405 games. Streak started on November 7, 2005.

Pretty good considering that before one game last week the training staff had to twice stick a needle through the nail of his big toe to drain out blood and fluids so that he could fit his foot inside his skates. Little bugger is just tough as ****!

Pominville was at around 350 before Hjalmarsson decked him.

Not too mention he only missed 2 games since 2002. And he only missed about 20 something games before that due to a broken leg!

Jordan Staal had a really awesome streak until PK Subban'd him. I don't think he missed any games in his career up until that point and was in the 280-320 range. If I'm wrong someone correct me though.

Same goes for Nicklas Backstrom. They even debuted in the same game.

His streak was at 302 regular season games.

He played 81 games his rookie season, missing the 26th game of the season.

Yeah, those Staals are extremely durable. Most players have missed more games since the start of Eric's career, than the three of them have combined.

I like how this thread has gone in the 9 hours since I started it. Keep 'em coming!

Gaborik played 3 games in a row to start the season. Sadly the streak ended after that 3rd game.

Should be pretty easy to do if you go one team at a time. Anyone who hasn't played every game this year, then 82 games last year, then ... Once you find the player(s) with long streaks, use game log and compare w/ someone who had a complete season. The only thing to be careful with are new players / trades.

Are we talking just due to injury, or games missed for any reason? Last year, nobody played all 82 games for Colorado. Towards the end of the season, after a playoff spot was secured, Sacco scratched guys like Stastny, Hannan, Duchene-- to rest them.

If a player is benched, does that ruin their iron man streak? Because Penner has never missed a game due to injury in his 357 game career
