12. Minnesota Wild: More than enough forwards in system
More than enough? Wow...He must have only looked at our draft sheet and came to that conclusion because this guy has no freaking idea about our system...

Who was it who said that? LOL I didn't think teams could ever have to many forwards.
Idiots.

I think it's just a breif summary of our needs...which is wrong...but obviously they are just looking at all the forwards taken early, especially in previous first rounds. Maybe next time they should actually do some research.

Wow, even I could've come up with a better one-liner than that.

Not defending the statement, but I feel in terms of need come draft day, that statement is somewhat true.

If you look at our prospects, the ones that have a good shot at making the NHL, we have way more forwards than defensemen.

So while the statement is junk overall, for the two draft days it holds some truth.

Heid, Reitz, Beckett, or Bolduc is a thin, thin d-corp in waiting.

Now the Wild have never drafted for need.

I agree with you, but espn just annoys me with their attempted coverage of hockey. Then you click on the Wild link above the comment and it lists are 4 1st round picks and shows their NHL stats. Just by looking at that one would think we need more forwards if they had no idea about hockey. Besides that they do a good job.

TK the problem is you got 6-7 defenseman but also like 11-12 forwards, so you need extra forwards to plug in.

We really don't have a thin defensive core: Burns, Michalek, Heid, Reitz, Misharin, Stokes...I mean that's a whole defensive unit right there and we'll continue plugging away at it with either waiver pick ups (Henry, Zyuzin) or through FA or through the draft.

Forwards we are very thin with the guys coming up...our center is strong but top heavy...

LW:
Stephane Veilleux
Derek Boogaard
Mathieu Melanson
Mark Rooneem
Niklas Eckerblom

Tell me, does anyone there have top side potential?

Center:
Mikko Koivu
Patrick O'Sullivan
Rickard Wallin
Adam Courchaine
Marcin Kolusz
Mark Cullen
Marc Cavosie
Dan Cavanaugh

As I said top heavy because after Wallin, it gets fuzzy.

RW:
Matt Foy
Danny Irmen
Kyle Wanvig
Mike Erickson

Good on RW but depth is missing.
