What ever happened to David Fischer?

Title takes care of the question, but what happened to David Fischer? He would have graduated this year.. I may have just missed what was going on with him...

He wasn't signed and no longer belongs to the Habs. Now playing in the ECHL with the Florida Everblades

Habs will get a 2nd round compensation pick in next year's draft

Didn't get resigned. I have no idea why he was picked in the first place.

He tried out for the Canucks organization and was an early cut.

Because he was a smooth skater with size and offensive abilities. Turns out he never became better, but on draft day, he was decent.

Really ? I thought we didn't offer him a contract... in that case, why would we have compensation ?

I believe we offered him a contract a few years back and he didn't accept as he wanted to stay in school or something along those lines.

They did offer him a contract, but per the cba you don't have to offer a contract for NCAA draft picks in order to get compensation.

A very little-known fact:

David Fisher presently lives in the body of Scott Gomez.

Explains a lot.

At least Habs chose PK Subban in the second round while Philly chose Kevin Marshall two picks before Subban.

Why are we always talking about failures?

Because some 1st round blunders hurt more than others.

Just imagine Carter and Giroux with the Habs. It probably means no Gomez at center.

Just imagine Subban instead of Marshall.

Just imagine Gagner instead of VanRiemsdyk.

We can go on and on with it.

because this was a terrible pick, and everybody was shocked when the habs picked him. It was just bad.
