Rumor

This was on the Leafs board. Have you heard any of this?

http://www.hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=83433
What I'm hearing out here in Calgary, where there were lots of NHL executives recently is that the Thrashers have talked to JFj about teaming up the Kaberle brothers.

Thomas Kaberle and Kyle Wellwood for Patrik Stefan and Ivan Majewsky.

It is believed JFj was encouraged by Quinn to hold out for Andy Sutton, but Waddell said sure if Tucker was coming the other way.

It is believed that Tucker is being used as bait to bring some Alberta beef back to Toronto, but leads into the next trade rumour

I'm not one to put much stock in rumors, especially when they come from a thread titled "Make up your best Leaf Trade Rumour Today" and opens with the following exhortation: "If other people can just make things up blindly I don't see any reason for posters on message boards to need to be accountable ..in fact I think it sounds like fun ..I think I will make up a rumour to today .. Go ahead try it !!!!!!!"

We definately could use a d-man like Kaberle. I really don't see the leafs have a need for Stefan but I would traded him straight up for Kaberle. However given Stefan's good form of the 2nd half of last season, I would try and work out other arrangements such as offering Sutton or Majesky or draft picks.

I've seen Tomas Kaberle play. I've seen Stefan play.
I prefer Stefan.

but given what you have on the blueline...giving up stefan to get a GOOD offensive d-man...is worth it.

He's another rumour mentioned on the leafs boards about Atlanta looking to acquire Tomas Kaberle.

http://www.hfboards.com/showthread.p...1&page=5&pp=15

To ATL: T.Kaberle (D), J-F Racine (G)
To TOR: 1st Round Pick 10, P Nurminen (G)

Going by the thread and also by the fact that the deal easily favours Toronto it seem like another made up rumour but it is probably the third rumour I have read about the 'thrashers looking to acquire Tomas Kaberle'. Is anyone else starting to think that we will see both Kaberle brothers together in Atlanta come draft day?

yeah, shake your head

it's the pick, all i've ever read on this draft is that it's weak, and the 10th pick isn't THAT valuable. why am i then trading a proven young dman with loads of still existing potential for another goalie. so we can get older yet on the blueline and sign another ufa..

nah

Yeah, shrug your shoulders.

Let's recap:

post 11: you say you wouldn't do the deal.
post 12: I say, me neither.
post 13: you try to explain why you don't want to make the deal?

I'll say it again, no deal.

As a diehard Leafs fan myself, I'd take that deal and as one poster suggested about another deal, I'd run like hell...

Kaberle for the 10th overall is a decent trade for the Leafs... you get a very solid prospect, maybe even the potential of getting Montoya... Sure the draft isn't as deep, but that doesn't mean that the 10th pick isn't going to be a good player... Just maybe not quite as good as some years... then the Nurminen for Racine part is a laugh.... Racine is a career AHLer/ECHLer... He'll never see the light of day in an NHL rink... Nurminen is a pretty decent starter and still relatively young... This deal is a no brainer for the Leafs... Especially with the depth of young dmen we have and Colaiacovo coming up...

Unfortunately, I HIGHLY doubt that Waddell is half as stupid as the person who originally posted this trade idea... I WISH HE WAS!!! but he's not...

well your use of the shakehead led me to believe you were insisting it was awful in a confrontational way. it's a powerful little thing that shakehead smilie, kind of like the power the rolleyes one had (which has since been removed b/c of that power)

I somehow read Andre "Red Light" Racicot at first and thought Thrashers should give you Nurminen just to make you sure he doesn't come anywhere near their goal. And then I started wondering if he is still playing and how on earth he ended up in Leafs organization. Then I re-read your post, but still out of interest ran his name on hockeydb.com. Yes he is still playing, and he still sucks judged by the stats. Played 1999-00 for Nizhnekamsk Neftekhimik (???) in Russia. Then in 200-01 for Bakersfield Condors (WCHL) and Granby Blitz (QSPHL). In 2001-02 he had two games with 0.78 save persentage for Greensboro Generals at ECHL, before moving to QSPHL until this day.

Gotta hate a goalie who gets a sunburn on the back of his neck (from all the exposure to red lights).
Does that make him a "Red Neck" goalie?

In the ECHL no less! And what the hell is the QSPHL?

the quebec senior league, which is mostly a wrestling event. i believe that such notables as Link Gaetz and Patrick Cote reside there, now.
