Former Blue Jacket Luke Richardson's Teen Daughter Dies

Condolences to our former Captain, Luke Richardson.

See link below.

Pretty horrible for the whole family.

Mods Edit:

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/hocke...86621104_x.htm

Quote:
OTTAWA (AP) — The teenage daughter of Ottawa Senators assistant coach Luke Richardson has died.

Daron Richardson, 14, was rushed to the hospital Friday, the Senators said in a statement.

"There was an accident at their home (Friday) and Daron tried to take her life by hanging," the statement read. "Her mother found her in the basement, and Daron was rushed to the hospital by ambulance where she remained in critical condition in ICU until she succumbed to her injuries."

Link above not working. Its the family of Luke Richardson that needs prayer.

I have 2 young sons and I tear up at the the thought of anyone having to go through this. Luke is one of the players that gave everything to this city and team. I can't pray enough for his family.

The hearts of the Mason family go out to you Luke.

The fact that she was only 14...

This has to be some of the worst pain imaginable. May God help him and his family. RIP

Was really saddened to hear this. You'd be hard pressed to find a nicer guy then Richardson.

My thoughts are with the family.

Horrible news. Being a father of a young daughter, reading things like this is absolutely unfathomable.

Condolences to the Richardson family. I have no idea how hard this must be.

I already expressed my condolences on the main board thread, but I suppose it's never inappropriate to express them further.

Being a 26-year old with no children, I can't imagine what his family's pain is like. As I said in the main board thread, for something so horrible to happen to a good man like Luke and his family is... just unfair.

I am so sorry. No parent should ever have to bury a child. In a perfect world, no one, certainly no child, should ever feel as if things are so bad that this is an option. But we don't live in a perfect world. To the ones that remain, I hope you find peace and remember that you are human and there was nothing anyone could do to stop this.

What is up with all the teen suicides? I didn't have one in any of my schools the entire time I was growing up. Thankfully. I just don't get it.

I can't imagine what their family is going through. 14? So tragic.

Odd wording. Accident and suicide attempt (well take her life)? No accident there.

I wondered about the wording, too, bb. Not good to speculate, but that makes it sound like something accidental may have happened in the home that led her to think suicide was a solution.

No words are sufficient...

As the father of two daughters, one who turns 14 in about a month, I cannot even begin to imagine what the family is going through right now. My thoughts and prayers are with all of them.

I was going to post tonight about the students at the school I teach at but Puck-Rakers beat me to it. I am very proud of the kids at our school. They are taking a picture at the end of the day and sending it to the Richardson family. Nice to see high school kids doing something like this.

I have a friend who had an incident almost identical to this with her daughter a few years ago. It is so unbelievably tragic. It is a pain that never seems to go away. My friend's daughter was going through an 'attention' phase at the time, the hanging was totally unexpected. The thought was she was trying to get attention, not truly trying to kill herself so it was looked at as more of an accident. Of course this isn't common, but unreasonable drama from a girl (or boy) at that age is. Maybe something along those lines happened here too, I don't know. My heart really goes out to the Richardson family on this. Losing a child has to be the worse thing anyone could go through.

Heard this on Sirius earlier today..

Very sorry for the loss of such a young life. My thoughts and prayers to the Richardson's and young Darin. Unfortunately it is very hard being a child in this era.

RIP Darin
