I understand trying to piss a team off and stuff, but Smid is injured. I don't get what Burrows gets out of this?
Does he want somebody on Edmonton losing it next game and taking a suspension? (I don't think anybody on the Oilers even has it in them to do something too stupid anyways).
meh if im the oilers next time they play the canucks i send smac out there 1st period against him to send a message you hurt or talk bad against anyone on this team and we will mke you pay one way or another...he doesn't even diserve to be in this league hes a diver that ruins the game for everyonehe takes away from the twins finess and pisses everyone else off so much
They protect him because if they didn't and something happened to him they would be in deep legal crap. Like it or not, they do kinda have to do the right thing.

They don't protect other players. They only tend to protect the cheap guys.
I wouldn't be surprised if Smid is not a very well liked guy around the league. He's always starting stuff after the whistle when it's not really necessary, which I don't mind as a fan, but I understand why other players wouldn't like him.
Pretty sad that Avery escapes punishment for a pretty blatant sucker punch. On the other hand, if they fined or suspended Avery they might have had no choice but to look harder at Peckham for chasing Avery like a scared rabbit off the ice.
Why do NHL officials protect morons like Avery is all I want to know. The only thing that kept Avery from getting his face smashed was the linesman in the way of Peckham. They do this EVERY SINGLE TIME with little pieces of trash like him. Why not just let someone lay a beating on him? He deserves it. Even his own teammates know it (see Christensen's interview after the game).
Agreed, it's like they like these morons. Implement the instigator to protect these punks and then get in the way of letting Peckham settle the score face to face, man to male who doesn't deserve to be called a man. This is when stuff boils over and stuff gets out of hand. had Peckham beat the crap out of him chances are this would be over for the most part. Peckham took exception because he is a man of the code, he is a fighter, and one tough SOB that doesn't need to be a snake to get a shot in.

I agree, remember when Vandermeer beat the tar out of Pouliot? Where were the officials then? More important to protect a pretend tough guy like Avery.

Burrows is a disturber, that said if I were the Oilers one of these games where we are getting spanked by the 'Nucks I'd run the SOB and then take an instigator and mop the ice with his blood. Peckham, Vandermeer, either of those guys would do the trick.
burrows is just chirping for the sake of chirping...he sees the oilers are sucking so why not give it to them why he still can, he will run at the first sight of a fight when they play then claim that he will fight them next time but he never will...hes the type of player that is only going to be in the league as long as he plays with he twins and can play off of their finess

EDIT: The TV timeout saved Peckham... he left the bench first and was standing there for a while on the ice... then he eventually went after avery... the league must view it as a line change and not actually peckham "coming off the bench"
The dubinsky fine was by the book. It wasnt as bad as what avery did, but its like a delay of game penalty, there is no grey area or judgement.. you grab a guy from the bench, you get fined
Avery is a cheap ****... but he didnt do anything suspention worthy sadly.

I think Burrows comments are fine if said player isn't injured (Smids Concussion)
Now I know you will defend the piece of garbage Burrows like Canucks fans always do (Cooke, etc). Your defense will be Burrows didn't know if Smid was injured or not.
If that's the case, Burrows is actually dumber than he looks. Shows the guy doesn't have much of a brain or thinks before he speaks (ala Kesler). You could wait a day and see if the guy did get injured before spouting off.
Overall, if something like this ever happens to Burrows, I bet 90% of the league will smile just like he is at Smid.

Good example was how Mac kO'd Calgary's big guy. Did anybody come out trash talking that he got what he deserved. No. Class only belongs to about 98% of the league. The Aveery's and Burrows of the league are in the other 2%.
