Omg can you imagine having to watch this pairing? I drink too much to begin with watching this team...my liver couldn't take it

Call me crazy but I'd rotate some kids from the farm. Give Petry 3-4 games, Belle 3-4 games, and maybe Petiot or Plante 3-4 games. I have a bad feeling about Smid's concussion, IIRC he's had a number of them in the past, this one could take awhile to get over. Maybe this is finally the time that we move Cogs for a bottom pairing d-man?

How is this team, with a healthy Hemsky and Khabi and a competent Horcoff, seemingly worse than the post-Hemsky team of last year?
Because the defense is laughable and they are breaking in 3 rookies. It really isn't surprising they are losing.

Ok Youre crazy. Petry isnt ready yet, and besides, one Gilbert is more than enough for any team.

Agreed, there to 3 or 4 guys should see some time up here. A dianmond in the rough is always out there.

That didn't take long either. Without getting into a lengthy pissing match in terms of potential Petry > Gilbert. Besides not every d-man needs to be a Pit Bull on the ice. However having a junkyard dog on each pairing or on at least 2 pairings is a nice luxury. Peckham is one, maybe Plante or Bigos will eventually be the other.

I hope the club gives Smid at least a month to recover. Hopefully more. Face it, he wasn't playing that well and this could be an opportunity to see some of the guys from Oklahoma.

That and at this point if we rush him back it could cost him his career. Even if we put him on IR and play Vandermeer, Struds, and Peckham we could give Omark a well deserved call-up.

Crazier idea - Try Penner at D. He'd win a few board battles and clear the crease. And he won't have to skate much ... since the puck would always be in our zone

For sure, we could really use another young d to build around and we could use another d more than we can use Cogliano at this point. Cogs to TO for Brian Lee maybe? Cogs and Penner for Cowen or Runblad and a pick?

Don't worry: I'm pretty sure Tambellini is evaluating the situation as we speak and will be ready to make a decision on the blueline by draft day.

Should be interesting to hear the crowd when Mac & Struds come out for their first shift.

that idea sends shivers down my spine--even when he was in his prime he was only good for 10-15 a night

Peckhams hand was already messed up before his fight with Boyle. Hopefully the guys coming up will be able to pass, hit, and be able to break up a play every once in a while or pick up the guy that just hangs out in from of our net. I'm asking for to much I know but dare to dream.

Call up Belle and Petiot, they're both better than Struds anyways.

See, now that would be a sucker punch.
