I honestly don't know where to ask this and I'm sure a lot of you will complain about this but it appears to me that Tortorella has lost a lot of weight. He was never a heavy guy or anything, but his face just seems different and his general body structure seems more.... "fragile"
Does anybody know whats going on? Change of diet? Is he participating more in his own drills or is it something serious?
I don't think he's sick. His attitude has been great and I haven't heard anything in his voice that would make me think he's sick. Also gonna agree that stress could have a factor, although I haven't noticed much of a difference in his look.
I will say, though, that his demeanor has changed completely. This is not the Torts I've grown to know and hate over the years. I like this Torts much better.
Some of you might not notice it because you get to see him more often.
Between being busy with work and MSG being cancelled on my DISH I barely get to see the games anymore, let alone Torts.
Compared to last year he looks much skinnier to me.
And yes, stress could be a big factor.. didn't consider that.

I was gonna post something like this but didn't wanna go too off topic...if anything happened to Torts it's that his new hip came from a really nice guy. New Torts seems to have a good connection with the players, the media (so far), and I'm starting to really like him after being a Renney fan.

I feel the same way....im pretty sure Torts is fine i just think hes changed a lot this season in the way he goes about dealing with the guys. Last season was a growing year for this squad, as is this year and i think torts has grown as well. Im really happy with how hes handled the players and this team so far and hope hes here for the long haul. This team really is building a strong identity.
And thanks NYR2k2....cant pm you but you know what for and will do!

Maybe the team just knows what he wants and the "old style" is no longer necessary. The bulk of the group was here last year. If the yelling didn't get through to you by now, you've already been "Kotalik-ed".
I know a lot of people dislike Torts because of his abrasive personality, but if you can look past that, he's actually a decent coach. His best move so far may have been switching Dubi to wing.
As far as last season goes, that was not an easy team to manage. Kotalik was begging to be traded, Redden was upset with being benched, Brashear was pissed about being scratched. Lots of distractions in that locker room, and on top of that, there were 3 rookies that had to be integrated into the lineup. I wasn't always happy with the way Torts handled his players, but I'm not sure another coach would have done much better. I had a feeling that once some of the players from last year's team were weeded out, his coaching style would pay off.
Perhaps he is working out regularly to make it as easy as possible for him to get around with his new hip? Also, maybe part of him being so POed at the world had something to do with his hip feeling like crap.
I've noticed it, not in an unhealthy manner though. Last few years or so he's looked jacked even wearing dress shirts. This year he looks more like a normal dude though still strong.
If anything he might have dropped his muscle mass routine
I would agree that he seems slightly more thin, but I would attribute it to him simply being able to exercise without pain thanks to his hip surgery. I would imagine considering how much he harps on conditioning that he expects the same from himself.
One thing about Torts that I do like, is that he wanted to keep the core and stay with youth. Having him remind Sather to stay the course is always a plus.
