What win was most impressive to you ? The one against the Flyers, the Canucks (who had won 6 straight going into the Habs game), or the one against the Bruins ?

I think those are our 3 best wins this season.

Vancouver for me.

No excuses but both the Bruins and Flyers were on a back to back

Canucks were in town for a few days and had plenty of rest

I was really sad to see them act as they did. Hockey has evolved and I have no pleasure from seeing a guy like Powe skate as hard as he can from the blueline in with the sole purpose of destroying a player with a check.
Even a guy like Giroux, that would probably be labeled as a softy if he was with us, goes around trying to do a head check on Lappy and give about 10 slashes to PK.
See a guy like Hartnell try to completely lay out Plekanec. Or see him check Gionta mid ice when he had no puck, and not get called on it.
Put a Shelley on the ice with about 2min when the game is over, trying to ''send a message''..
See O'Donnell grab a guy's face from behind and just drag it to the floor.
It's as pathetic as when we saw that Boston game where all they wanted to do is physically hurt us.

I'm not saying this out of frustration because we don't have any big aggressive guys. I don't want any guys like that. I think it's sad that we still see this type of hockey.
Hockey has become a game of skills, a lot more than what it used to. If I want to see guys beat the crap out of each other, I'll watch the UFC.
I'm all for fights every now and then, and checking for taking the puck away. But what I saw tonight was just nasty hockey from the Flyers, and it started when we established a good lead.

What's even more sad was to see the referees simply not know what to do. It was horrible refereeing. Anybody with half a brain could tell which team was the aggressive one, yet we end up having less PP...I would like someone to explain that to me.
I think your over reacting here a little. Its just old time hockey. When your beat on the scoreboard and you have no chance of coming back. You have 2 options, you can sit back and do nothing and take it like a girl and let them run up the score like Carolina did. Or you can tell the other team, you might have beat us on the board tonight but were gonna punish you for it by pounding you over and over again with physicality.

SAT NOV 20, 2010 TORONTO vs MONTREAL - Auld
MON NOV 22, 2010 MONTREAL vs PHILADELPHIA - Price

SAT NOV 27, 2010 BUFFALO MONTREAL - Price

Then Price can go on another run of many starts in row again.
Yea this concerns me too. Playing in goal is mentally tough and with how our team is performing, I don't want Price overworked and tired come playoff time. While the team is running hot, give Auld a start or two.

Turning point of the game IMO was the 5 - 3 the Habs killed off which was shortly followed by a Habs goal.

Top D PK'ers TOI (most to least minutes): # 44, # 26, # 6

Top F PK'ers TOI (most to least minutes): # 94, # 14, # 32

And of course Carey Price.............

Congrats, boys! It was a great effort. The Habs need to tighten up defensively though. I'll give them a pass as it's probably still a shock to have lost Markov again. They need to settle in, get comfy and work with the mindset he may be gone for the rest of the season. I don't know much (if anything) about sports pschology but it's gotta be tough especially so for the couple of players who have played with Markov the previous three years or beyond. There's not many of those guys but it's gotta be tough.

THU NOV 18, 2010 NASHVILLE vs MONTREAL - Price
SAT NOV 20, 2010 TORONTO vs MONTREAL - Auld I'd go with Price again here! He would want to avenge the loss in game 1 of the season.
MON NOV 22, 2010 MONTREAL vs PHILADELPHIA - Price
WED NOV 24, 2010 LOS ANGELES vs MONTREAL - Price
FRI NOV 26, 2010 MONTREAL vs ATLANTA Auld

We're still early in the season. There are a lot of back-to-back games coming up. Auld can start then.
Price is 23, he can handle the load.

Yup, he's winning 56% of his faceoffs (which is among the league leaders) and 5th on our team in scoring. He's very important.

Also, he's been a very good PKer, and is one of our better forecheckers consistently.

The fact that they were in town for a few days is proof that they didn't have plenty of rest either

In his segment on CKAC, Mario Tremblay said that Jacques Lemaire's biggest fear when they played in Montreal was to arrive a few days before the game.

A couple of years ago Price admitted he was tired and overworked at the end of the previous season. Your underestimating the mental strain on a goalie. He might be fine now but I'd prefer him to have gas in the tank for the playoffs.

That could have been the season where he played in the WHL, AHL, and World Juniors...in which case any goalie would be tired after that schedule.

Yea he played in like 70 games that year. If he plays 70 regular season games, expecting him to play 20-24 more playoff games is too much.

No elbow, its a hard shoulder to the back of his neck and head while he's already unsteady on his skates from a small stumble.

http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v...vq=medium#t=18

Still, it looks like exactly the kind of hit the NHL is trying to get rid of.

I'm not overreacting, I just don't like that type of hockey.
But if they want to play like that, so be it, it's their style. One should expect the referees to make the proper calls.

Explain to me how the Flyers get away playing that style?..Explain how we end up have less PP then them?..Richards runs A.Ko from behind and adds a 2nd shove, but because AK's so strong he doesn't fall, on his way back he shoves Richards himself that goes flying a bit. Richards then goes on a gay fit trying to ''fight'' Andrey, throwing a couple punches. Subban comes in, Richards drops his gloves and Subban then follows.
What's the referee's calls? Andrei and PK both get 2min roughing, Richards 2min roughing, Philly PP.....I'm sorry, what?..I'm overreacting?..
Right away, Richards should have had a 2min for roughing. Andrei didn't do anything but push him back, but if you want to fine, give him a 2min as well. If Andrei gets called for that, then you can give an extra 2 to Richards for punching him after.
Then PK comes in, Richards drops his gloves, isn't that instigating a fight?..Another 2min.

What about the hit on Halpern, just because Jeff wasn't 5 feet away from the boards and didn't go flying into them head first it's not a check from behind?...

What about Giroux given Subban about 10 slashes that actually land, and Subban throws one that doesn't and both each get 2min for roughing?..This after they gave Pouliot a slashing call for barely one handing Pronger's glove..Not only that, but O'Donnell comes from behind to grab Subban's face and drops him to the floor, he gets 10 misconduct without an extra 2min penalty?..

Then, during a scrum in front of Price, Lappy and Hartnell go at it, both 10min misconducts and Lappy extra 2min???...What??..

Explain to me how we end up having less PP than the Flyers yesterday?..
The refs could have made it clear they wouldn't tolerate anything. But I can't blame the Flyers for keep doing what they were doing, they got away with everything and when they didn't one of our players joined them so it neutralized it.

Meanwhile, in a game that's a lot more clean, where Nashville has the upper hand and lead 4-1, they suddenly get 6penalties called against them. They also happen to be one of the most disciplined team in the NHL.

Officiating was always crap. They let teams like the Flyers get away with tons of stuff because they're so dirty they don't know what to do. They influence games like the Leafs one. With the current leaks, it's no wonder they're constantly lost and don't know how to call the games.

"I was going to give it to a precious kid in the stands that could look at that puck and enjoy the moment he got to see," Pronger said with a grin. "I guess I didn't get the opportunity."

still cracking me up

so if anyone is facing the boards, no hit? new rule? what would you ask powe to do in that case, skate to his side to hit him? scream at him "coming thru bro" ? slightly bend down like halpern, so he can hit his waist?
